Well, first mission type:
Seize ground (Again...)
Pitched battle (Again...)
So, we roll to see who deploys first, I win.
Even though if I make him go first, I would get the second turn for an objective mission, with all his guns, I feel I need to reach him quickly with smoke and what not. So, I decide to take the first turn,
and crush him under my boots.
5 objectives, I already want to concede... >.>
Here is the table after the objectives:
Here is the table after deployment:
I am really riding on him not seizing the initiative.
He rolls to seize the initiaive and... rolls a 2. *phew*
Imperial Fist Turn 1:
I rush up with everything, determined to smash him, and convinced that once I get up close, he will die to a stiff breeze. Pop smoke, this looks like I will get to him largely unscathed... let us see...
I shoot,
POTMS, redeemer multi-melta at the empty razorback. His obscured passes.
2 Missle launchers from the rear combat squad into the razorbacks on the flanks. I shake both of them, not too shabby for what I shot.
Space Wolves Turn 1:
He pushes up the rune priest razorback on the far left flank.
Now... the shooting... long fangs fire into my vindicators... I pass all my obscured saves! Thank goodness for that, now he has 5 lascannons to fire, slightly more intimidating. Especially due to them being
scattered, so I can't charge all of them.
Lascannons manage to... explode the teal rhino, and stun the land raider. Overall, not as bad as I wished, again I was too worried about my opponents army.
Imperial Fists Turn 2:
I rush everything up, hoping to take out his long fangs, and protect my vindicators to an extent, the redeemer is out for some blood, Lysander and his bodyguard are about to break some razorbacks.
The teal marines try advancing towards the second objective... though they roll double 1's for difficult terrain.
The two vindicators fire into the long fangs, killing all of them, even the rune priest! The melta gunner from the orange marines stun the razorback.
The far right vindicator fires into the long fangs on the hill... direct hit! Though I roll 3 1's to wound.
Amazing so far, a total of 1" of deviance with my vindicators.
The land raider uses
POTMS to fire its
TL-assault cannon into the razorback behind the bunker. Merely scratching the hull.
Both combat squad missle miss their intended targets.
Terminators assault the razorback... one effective result. Explodes! (The rest were stunned/shaken/weapon destroyed.)
The razorback explodes killing a terminators, everything else survived... >=/
Space Wolves Turn 2:
He advances his units to destroy parts of my army. I feel this is going to be his most effective shooting phase, and I brace for it.
His white marines fire into my combat squad in the rear field. His
JotWW snatch at my marines, claiming none. Their bolters and melta take a much large toll, killing 2.
The razorbacks flanking the long fangs fire into the rhino trekking up the hill. Wrecking it, the marines forced to walk the rest of the way.
His melta gun ends up penetrating the land raider... stunning it, phew.
The orange marines rhino becomes wrecked from some lascannons.
The long fangs on the hill fire into the marines... killing 2 outright.
The purple marines and iron priests fire into the terminators, then charge. The tactical dreadnaught armor protecting them. One Iron priest is out of charge range, however the others aren't as they
charge into the terminators... wounding nothing. Lysander strikes back, slaying the iron priest, as his terminator bodyguard go to town killing four more, and the space wolves buckle under the pressure
and retreat from the battle field, the terminator armor not letting Lysander catch the cowards in flight.
He regretted doing that alot...
Imperial Fist Turn 3:
I position myself for even more killing. This battle is going pretty well so far. I realize the flaws in his list now, I was just worried about his volume of fire, if he went first, I think I would have lost for sure.
Lysander splits off to go kill a razorback by himself. The far right tactical squad fires into the razorback immobilizing it. The vindicator in that side of the field goes for the kill with the long fangs. It
leaves one, which already seems like a nightmare starting to happen.
The combat squads hustle through the trees, and fire into the rune priest's squad. Two of the traitors fall.
The orange combat squad shoots the razorback... immobilizing it as well.
The redeemer kills 4 of the marines, causing them to flee.
Assault seems to go very well for me, the terminators killing the iron priests, Lysander destroying the empty razorback. The orange marines blowing up a razorback. 2 marines die due to explodes result,
though his space wolves are fine. The rune priest assault goes poorly however, since the orange marine with a rocket launcher falls back out of close combat.
Space Wolves Turn 3:
He decided to deploy all of his models, and kill my troop choices, thinking he still had a chance of winning.
His units firing at the terminators manage to slay two, however they pass their leadership.
The white marines suffer 3 casualties, ready to kill the grey hunters next turn.
The single orange marine is left after being rapid fired, he went to ground, "ducking" a melta gun.
His razorbacks manage to immobilize a vindicator.
During the runepriest combat, he slays two marines, and I cause three wounds... Meaning I won combat, and he fails his leadership, he falls back...
(Lost a picture... I need to find out how to fix having ONE picture in the folder.)
Imperial Fist Turn 4:
I think a tablin' is even possible with luck.
All my models move for some objective claiming to an extent.
Vindicator shoots at the teal space wolves. Direct hit! I roll to wound... 3 6's and 3 1's... Darn, I think they're going to kill the sergeant after all.
Land raider fires an assault cannon and multi melta at the closest predators... wrecking one.
The vindicator shakes the nearest predator.
A few assault go on, teal marines on rune priest, Lysander on long fang, white marines on grey hunters, terminators on grey hunters.
The teal marines take two wounds, though the power fist misses, and he passes his leadership.
Lysander kills the long fang without contest.
The white marines tie combat.
The terminators win, though the space wolves pass their leadership.
Space Wolves Turn 4:
He makes a play for the objectives.
Tank shocks, nothing special.
Fires at my vindicator with a melta. Causing it to explode.
His razorback with a lascannon kills my gone to ground sergeant.
Close combats:
His rune priest kills my power fist.
The grey hunters and marines tie combat.
Terminators cut down the grey hunters.
Imperial Fists Turn 5:
Everything moves up, hoping to kill some stuff.
Nothing even gets shaken/wounded.
Assault:
Terminators destroy the razorback.
Lysander blows up a razorback, the explosion killing a grey hunter, and an Imperial Fist.
Nothing happens in the grey hunter/marine combat...
Space wolf turn 5:
He will tie if the game ends now...
His lascannon melts my marine.
His melta misses my land raider.
Assault, both sides kill one.
We roll to see if the game ends... and...!
It goes on!
Imperial Fist Turn 6:
I move as shown.
My redeemer toasts the remaining grey hunters, denying him an objective.
My vindicators fire at his razorback and rune priest, 2 direct hits.
The priest dies, and his razorback is shaken.
My combat squad missle blows his razorback on the hill to smithereens.
Lysander rushes to that aid of the sergeant... great too, because both marines did nothing to each other.
Space Wolves Turn 6:
He just sits there... we have a five minute intermission. I can't stand it... he comes back, and he rolls... a 1...
I was hoping for a table... I had 2 demolisher cannons, a multi-melta, and some
TL-assaultcannons... also, I would have had two objectives... instead of a massacre... I got a minor victory.
All in all it was a fun match, though I didn't know how it was going to turn out at first, which made me happy.
Anyway, there it is dakka. My second battle report. =P
