I am loving this game! I am not an RPG player, with the only one I've ever played probably being one of the Zeldas. However, this game is awesome to me for a number of reasons:
-The story / cut-scenes are reasonably short and to the point, and usually at least a little amusing, leaving the emphasis on the gameplay
-The battle system is intricate, requiring some real-time-strategy like skills in positioning your characters, using the correct weapon, etc. while still being fast and exciting once things start moving
-It's HARD! But if you read the reviews ahead of time, get a decent idea of the mechanics of the game, and take your time going through it to learn / earn experience and the like / equip your characters well, you have a good chance.
I am really enjoying it, and I love the steampunk theme. Overall a good game to relax with, imho. I've put about 15 hours into it (a large chunk of that being while my wife was away last weekend), and now that I've got the hang of it I think I'll take my time with it. More to come once I've made it farther along! (I think I'm about 1/4 of the way through at the moment).
Anyone else thinking of getting this game, or tried it out / have impressions of it? I think it got lost in the shuffle with FF13, but these guys went in the opposite direction, and although I've never played the FF games, this one appeals to me much more than those games. I think the risks the makes of Resonance of Fate took really paid off with a cool, unique game.
