I'm new to gs myself so take my advice with a grain of salt. I think they look great but my suggestion is the file the insides of them like a knife and maybe square the sides and tops out alittle.

Not really that bad for your first time with green stuff. Im no greenstuff expert myself either but I agree with mansta, neaten it up with a file and it will be fine.

Guilliman and the Ultramarines are like Manchester United, everyone hates them because they are so awesome!

Well gs is really soft, so generally I wouldnt recommend trying to sculpt large pieces without a frame. Your claws look fine to me, but they will be difficult to file. For the same exact project I plan to start with bayonets and add gs to them to get the shape I want.

Sort of reminds me of Deamonettes.. Try making it look more "robotic" and less organic.

Not bad for your first attempt! Like others said, a bit of filing and squaring-off and it'll be fine.

2nd and 3rd on the refining of the claws, personally I'm gonna go with the forge world dreadnought CCW for blood talons.

I am scrapping the Talons I filed them and primed them. The Texture and look was just off. So I am going to try again with the this green stuff. Hopefully I can put something together I can be proud of. If any of you guys that have done this before have any tips or want to share your technique I would very much appreciate it.

Try Apoxie Sculpt. It dries rock hard and is a lot easier to smooth and sculpt with. To smooth, just wet your finger and rub back and forth. Also, sculpt them flat on a piece of wax paper, not on the model themselves.

Not to knock your effort, because I know how difficult greenstuff can be for a first timer, but youd probably be better off finding some blades of appropriate size rather than trying to GS some talons. Look around for someone local that plays fantasy and ask to rummage through their bitz box. Just a suggestion.

I am not having any luck with this Green stuff. I think I am going to try cutting some plastic card gluing it together and stuffing it with GS and seeing if that will look better.

Only use GS for organic shapes.
I would cut the claws from plasticard.

Ditto.

A good set of sculpting tools is a huge help too.

They do a 12-piece set too but it's more than you need.

Using the blades and surfaces on the tools helps you get a flat edged, inorganic look to a piece of Green Stuff.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Well here is my second attempt to do blood Talons. This time I went to hobby town and bought some square plastic rods. I used a lighter and bent them then used a hobby knife and shaved them down. Let me know what you think.
