Does a unit with stealth get the +1 even if not in cover. I.E. i'm in an open field not on the ground or anything.

As it says all the units cover save is improved +1 so nothing +1 is a 6+ cover save?

Also I'm not asking about getting the stealth USR, so I do not need a bunch of rehashing about getting the ability. I have read all the Telion posts, etc.

No, there is no cover save initially to give a bonus to.

No save -1 to save = no save.

But; going to ground with stealth in the open gives you a 5+ cover save.

Nope. Stealth is not like the Eldar Rangers of Old. Unless you have a cover save to begin with, stealth does not help.

Amusing factoids:

The Tau Stealth Suit does not have Stealth USR.

The Tau Sniper Drone does not have Sniper USR.

There is a "sniper rifle" weapon though....

Mainly because AP does not exist in close combat, and it is *always* at half distance....

KK - didnt the old SM Scouts not have the Scout USR either?

I thought it was worth pointing out that "sniper" isnt a USR, in case it confused some people

While we're talking about cover saves, does the Venomthrope get a boost to it's cover saves when it is in cover, or is it 4+ like for everything else? It has 5+ cover in the open, as do the units around it.

The Tyranid Codex is pretty vague on some of these rules. We're due for an FAQ I think.

Codex: Deamon hunters is the only codex that defines what a deamon actually is.

the only way stealth helps in the open is if the unit goes to ground for a 5+ save.
