Now the trygon has come out in the new codex, is it considered okay to use the old "imperial armour apocalypse" version in apoc games . They both have different points values and merits. I suppose this would also be a concern for other models, drop pod, manticore, shadowsword which I think have new data sheets.

Prefacing my comments with the fact I have never played Apocalypse I will say the following.
1. It doesn't pretend to be a balanced competitive game, it is about having a huge, fun, free for all battle.
2. One single Trygon's points and stats aren't going to make any significant difference to a game of Apoc.
3. If you like, just consider the Codex Trygon and the IA Trygon to be slightly different monstrous creatures of a similar type.
4. As with any game you need to agree with your opponents before you start.

That's cool. I wouldn't want to cause an embarrassing games faux pas.

Call the IA version Trygon Prime rime
Kill - it is *significantly* harder to kill the IA4 trygon, as it has a Mass Point. Meaning actually damaging it in the fierst place will take a lot - plus if it comes up under units it automatcially goes into combat with it.

Does it have the same points cost as the Codex Trygon?
A Codex Mawloc which is even cheaper than a Trygon can engage units it emerges under.
If the cost/benefit ratio is very significantly skewed in favour of one or the other model, there could be a case for harmonisation.
My thinking is that since Apoc battles usually feature at least 3,000 points a side, one single unit won't tip the balance unless it has some "Auto Win" ability.

290 points, S8 and T7 - but its the mass point that does it. Unless you hit it with a big enough weapon (very difficult in close combat) you dont start to strip its wounds
VERY highly skewed in favour of the IA version.

The one I was refering to was the one in the IA Apocalypse book. The points for that are 300. It also has no mass points. I don't think mass points are used in Apoc.It does have better WS, S,T,I than the codex version , but lower W, A and the same leadership as the prime. The Bio pulse is also 1 less attack and if used then the trygon is no longer fleet.

Mass points are most definitely used in Apoc, if you use the models where no updated ruleset exists and mass points are still used.

I am pretty sure they state in the IA book that it can be used in regular games. It really was not ment to be an appoc unit. At least I remember reading that.

I have, multiple times, there is nothing about being able to initiate an assault, unless you are counting being able to sort of break the 1" rule as assaulting..
