It's fun and addictive, but the space exploration and quests can be a little bit hard till you get the hang of it.

I've heard more bad than good on this game, which sucks because I was thinking about picking it up myself. I guess I'll wait and see where this thread goes.

I think it's great, I would say more than that but it's such a hard to describe game I'd have trouble putting it in a post. I say get it, if it's price is still quite high these days try to find it at a lower cost.

Well, i got the game, and here's my feedback:
I'ts awesome, especially the space age. The creature stage is also a fun stage, but sadly, it has a time limit, and you can't return to the same style of play anytime later in the game (the holographic avatar in the space age comes close, but).
Once you get to the highest level in the space age it gets way better than any part before.
What is especially fun is that your empires can interact with eachother. My first empire had only one city left on my home planet, and I was surrounded on all sides by a vicious enemy. Thinking that I was going to be destroyed, I started another empire on the other side of the galaxy. This empire eventually became incredibly powerful (after almost being wiped out itself), and I traveled to the other side of the galaxy, wiped out the agressor harassing my first empire. Then i played as my first empire and rebuilt it to power.

Is it compatible with windows 7?
Or a laptop thing?
I have very little idea what my laptop is capable of.

How old is your laptop? If its only a couple of years old it should be fine. Also no idea if it can be played on windows 7, guessing it can.

Do you know how big the processer is and how much RAM it has? But if it's a recent model it should be able to play it anyway.

Bought it and the C&C Parts Pack yesterday. Best... Purchase... Ever. It's got some side-scroller in the cell stage, 3rd Person RPG in the creature stage, and RTS in the Tribal Stage, which is where I'm at right now. Thusfar, it looks like there's some part of this game everyone can enjoy. Definately worth every cent.

You should be able to run it. The graphics are good, but only about WoW good. If you can run that on high settings you should be able to run SPORE on at least medium settings. It's very much worth the money if you can find it. I bought my copy at Wal-Mart and it was only $32 before tax.

Don't blame ya - Not a very good game IMHO. Got boring quick. Then again I've never been a fan of grinding games. Or Elves.
The whole game is only about 5Gb though, and I think it only recommended a 512mb Video Card, so it's not that demanding.

If it's running XP, Vista, or W7 it'll have -something- as far as a video card. SPORE should be okay even on a low-end card as long as you put the settings down.

It's hard to compare really. I haven't seen any game like it before TBH. The gameplay seems quite solid, and the vehicle creator is easy and will easily suck away hours of your life by itself just designing tanks, ships, starships, aircraft, etc...

Wow i like the sound of creating vehicles.
And thats kinda why there was the pause in my previous post! I couldn't think of anything to compare it to!
Closest i can think is a cross between Sims and Command & Conquer!
Soo any tips?

Yes. Play with the vehicle creator first. I made a great looking Kodiak LAV and an F-14 Tomcat in about 5 minutes apiece. It's extremely easy to use

I played about 3 or 4 hours last night and I'm barely scratching the surface. Aside from advancing your civ through history, you've got an entire galaxy full of planets to terraform and conquer. I was suprised at the 5GB size of this game for that reason, but there you are. You've got a galaxy full of planets, each with races on them in various states of development. So you could have your Spacefaring race go to war against cave people on the other side of the big spiral majig. I'm very eager to see what it's like firsthand though
