Feed up of buying propellant, anyone used one of these? Any thoughts, advice or anecdotes are appreciated.

(Plus if you have found different ways of using Citadel paints in a Airbrush let me know!)

I've heard tales of that type of compressor pulsing. The one further down the page with the tank and moisture trap avoids that problem and is probably a better buy IMO.

You mean this one,

SprayMaster Premium Silent Airbrush Compressor - CPS1002

This bundle looks good

yeah it looks like a budget all rounder, not as cheap and nasty as the other. Has anyone used one of these? Its looking like a Present to myself on my next leave period.

Tanked air compressors are the way to go, if it doesnt have a tank it will pulse and you well get an uneven coat.

The larger the tank you get the more consistant your spray will be.

Unless you are running the compressor for extended periods you do not need a moisture trap. If you are running the compressor for extended periods then the bulb type moisture traps arent worth the plastic they are made from.

I never really got the point of the "airbrush aircompressors" with the tank, the tanks tend to be to small and the psi tends to be to low to give much of an airreserve.

Atleast in the USA its cheaper to go to a big box hardware store like home depot or lowes and by a 1 to 5 gallon aircompressor with a regulator and then get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter

Yeah, i see your point, but I don't really want an industrial quality compressor (my wife and neighbours certainly won't thank me.)

How bad is pulsing is it a minor irritation or can it really ruin a project?

It really depends on the individual compressor and what your painting, the pulsing would make it dificult to do an detail work
