Has anyone tried playing Space Hulk with map sections from other games such as Doom that are wider than 1-square across?

Since Space Hulk Third Edition was released last year I have wondered how game play would be affected if the original missions were built using wider map sections.

Seeing maps with a combination of wide and narrow (1-space wide) corridors may provide opportunities for new tactics.

The Emperor can now brain-burn me for my thoughts of heresy.

I used to have the old Deathwing and Genestealer supplements back in the day, and they had stupidly large board sections. It made for very different styles of play, for example, being able to set up multiple overwatchers along a section.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

^Like him, the original spacehulk Deathwing & Genestealer expansions had 3 wide corridor sections. Multiple overwatch killing zones. Murder with assault cannons.

I have re-created all the 'additional' tilesets from 1st Ed Genestealer and Deathwing, so that all additional missions are now playable with the 3rd edition set. This is a great crafternoon project that will really enhance your set of SH, particularly if you can get access to the older mission archive.

Fortunately for me, I still have all my old SH1.0 books and tiles (I used the metal 1st ed terminators and I've lost the Genestealers - but I'm slowly replacing them).
