Ok, so i decided to join the forces of chaos. But i don't have the models yet but i do have my SM so i decided to paint them in a semi Iron Warriors Scheme while i get the funds to get some true CSM. So here is 2 of my first models I've done. A bit of clarification to some of the posts. I plan on getting true CSM models and then use these Normal Marines as a Homebrew SM chapter called the Iron Predators. But i want to get use to painting the scheme which is why they will be played as Iron Warriors. The caution striping will be added shortly (my Yellow paint was dead when i went to use it) I hope this explains the idea behind them.

Dread: V'arex

Terminator:

What i basically did was

Primed grey with Krylon
Base coated most of the model in Boltgun Metal
painted the area's black that i wanted to keep black
Washed with badab Black
Drybrushed with Boltgun metal
Touched up the black areas
Added the Brass and bronze
Washed with Delvan Mud
Applied a rust/mud like wash to the Brass areas.

Well there you have it, I'll be working on my Chaos Lord and Predator now. Please C&C and tell me what you think... OH and yes i know i need to drill out the Terminators Barrels but i don't have a bit that small atm.

Just add some spikes, skulls and some chaos symbols. My friend converted all of his space marines into a bunch of different Chaos worshiping renegades that turned their back on the Emprah.

Cover any reasonable flat surface with caution stripes, and you will be good to go. Caution stripes power fist, shoulder pads, dreadnought front faces, etc.

Hello All......

I have no problem with this.. at my store we have every single chaos player telling me that there chaos minitures are blood angels. Sense the relaxing f the rules about they are played as. A.k.a Hard boys all the models have to be wizy wig. Anything goes as long as you keep the other player informed of what things are.
I actually love the paint scheme as is. I would maybe add the striping as long as you make the striping old and weathered. The copper look to the models would not go well with bright yellows and brand new look.

Where are the caution stripes!? Iron Warriors without caution stripes are like Orks without dakka! Just not right!

Looks like a decent enough start though. Paint up more and get some stripes going!

Gathering the Informations.

I want to like them Dragon.

I really do.

But it seems kinda...well, halfhearted.
Making "Chaos" Marines, especially for a Chapter like Iron Warriors(who avoid Daemons, mutations, etc) out of the standard kits isn't too hard.

Shave off the aquilas, add in some handpainted runes/sigils. Voila--you get something that looks decidedly unique.

A few reasons that i have left them mostly AoBR is that once i get my CSM's ill be converting these back to Nilla marines and do some different work with the scheme. I know some might think that is a half ass reason but its what i plan on doing since i still have a few ideas i want to do with Standard Nilla Marines. But i wanted to show the progress i had on them so far to get some C&C, I guess i should have explained it a bit more in the opening blurb of the post.

Ok, I edited the title and OP to explain the reason behind these guys a bit more so, i hope it clarifies it for future posts.

They are really nice, and Im not ging to ask where the caution stripes are, as you explainded that in the original post
My question is: have I understood you right if I think you are going to play these guys as Iron warriors, and then, make them in to the exact same army, just as they were before the heresy?
On a personal-conection-to-your-army level that would be really cool. If this is not your reasons, Im sure the ones you have for this project are good and proper, even if they evades me (I mean, why not do the homebrew from the beginning? is it just to train on painting IW, or will the homebrew have the same colours?)
Nice work so far!

Fayric: you have it mostly right, i will be playing these as IW while im working on collecting my IW models, ill be swapping out the regular SM models to the CSM ones once i get them. Once i have all my CSM for my IW, ill be taking the regular SM models and using them as a Home brew Chapter called Iron Predators. which will have the same basic colors as this less the Caution stripping.

Thanks for the complements, the reason im not doing the home brew chapter from the beginning is that i want to have my primary army as IW and i want to have models that represent them while im buying the CSM to have an actually fielded IW army. I know it sounds confusing as my brain is scrambled atm.
