Can markerlights reduce an obscured save on a vehicle?

Yes. It is a cover save.

Supporting gwar!, the ork kff gives infantry a 5+ cover save and makes vehicles obscured, so that would suggest that obscured is a cover save. Also, pg. 62 of the rule book which is on obscured targets says that if a vehicle is obscured it gets a cover save.

Yes. It is a cover save.


To be specific, there is no such thing as an 'obscured save'

Vehicles take cover saves, just like everyone else does. Being obscured allows them to take that cover save against damage inflicted... but the actual save being taken is a cover save, not an 'obscured' save.

Cover saves are taken against glancing or penetrating hits (for vehicles) or wounds (for everyone else)... so no, you can't take a cover save from a markerlight 'hit' as it does neither of those things that would trigger a save.

I have another question along the same lines. When reducing cover saves with a marker light such as the 5+ from a KFF how far can you reduce the save? Can you eliminate it entirely or does the opponent always get at least a 6+?

You can never eliminate it entirely. </nitpick>

You can, however, reduce it so that you will need a 7 or more on a D6 to pass it, thus in effect negating it (but not actually negating it).
