Here is the situation:

Let's say I have a clanrat unit (value 200 points for the example's sake) with an attached warpfire throwers (70 points).

End of game, my opponent wiped out the clanrats, but the warpfire thrower lives.

Does my opponent get:

a) 200 points for wiping out the clanrats. The Warpfire is a separate unit.

b) 135 points for wiping out over half the unit.

c) Some other value I may have forgotten.

Thanks!

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

They only get the value for the unit that is wiped out. The weapon team is a seperate unit and so counts seperately for VP calculation.

Thanks. What part of the rules defines an upgrade like that as a separate unit? Is it the same for Empire detachments?

The fact that it does not have to maintain coherency with the parent unit defines it as a seperate unit.

Also, the rules in the Skaven book say that. It has to set up within 3" of the "parent" unit but after that, it becomes its own entity, worth is on vps, etc.

Yes, detahcments are scored separately as they are, in fact, separate units.

Actually, the only thing that defines it as a seperate unit and not an upgrade is that it specifically says so in the Skaven book. Otherwise, the question would be left open, since no over-arching rule defines an "independent unit"; each situation is handle on a case-by-case basis.
