ok, stop me if you've heard this one before: Vampire Imperial Guard! kit-bash the Vampire Counts and the IG lines together!! (and probably assorted other WHFB and 40K stuff) has anyone done this before? or am i a GENIUS?

I've seen a zombie guardsmen army before on dakka.

But go for it very original idea. And very few people have done it.

Hm, before I knew anything about anything, I painted up the Gaunts ghosts minis as a Necromunda homebrew vampire gang. I made Gaunt really pale and in Black read clothes for a Vamp count of a banned spire house. I also had a steel legion guy made up like a liche-wyrd, lol. It looked pretty good I thought

Anyway cool idea for the army. Any particular ideas for the kit bashing?

I have my doubts as to how good it could be. But, if it floats your boat, then go for it. Your hobby, you do whatever the hell you want!

This idea has played around in my mind a bit, but I could never restart my guardsmen...just make sure you use this guy as your company commander!

that's a pretty sweet commander there Granesh; that is kind of what i was thinking about. not undead/zombie IG (which i have seen, and is pretty cool) but WHFB-style VAMPIRE-y guard. or kinda like Blood Angels/Flesh Tearers vampire style. fangs, and deep red/wine colors, and pallid skin.

don't worry Ghost, none of that Twilight nonsense. if anything, maybe some of the more sinister White Wolf Vampire: The Masquerade perhaps.

and as to Fayric's question about what kind of kit-bash, i bet that the newer Vampire Counts plastics (with perhaps a little bit of newer Dark Elf; or dare i imagine DARK ELDAR?!) stuff mixed with Cadians, and other IG plastics. maybe i should pick up a little stuff to try experimenting...

But Twilight IG would be super easy to paint!! Just paint like IG- then varnish them with a pearlescent coat and sprinkle some glitter on them!!!

But, if you did that we might have to kill you. So stick with the pallid darkish vamps

I agree, the guy has killed countless vampires for 3 movies and how ever many seasons of a tv show. Im pretty sure thats more than any guard list youll come up with lol. Get some WIP minis done, and lets see what your doing man

Stick with a Romania/Transylvanian/Eastern European theme with them...and if you really wanna go with vampire lore, look up pictures and background on Vlad Tepes aka. the Impaler, here's an idea placed on all the tanks:

I just keep picturing Vampire Hunter D as a nemesis commisar. Should be fun...In one of the blood angels novels they used an unorthodox tactic of conscripting regular humans into an army in the name of Sanguinius. Granted they were under the heretical influences of the lord of change, but it might give you some fluff basis for a IG vampyre cult.

It was in the first book of the Blood Angels Omnibus by James Swallow.

there is a vampire head in the khorne zerker box, clip the rounded bottoms off and you can put em on guard pretty easily. only bit i can think of at the moment though.

They could be vampire's due to a genetic quirk that causes them only to gain nutrients from the drinking of blood. They don't have to be undead.

Convert Vendetta into giant bat

Go with an Underworld vampire theme- paint them all gloss black. Shiny latex vampires > sparkly emo vampires.

You could use the Sisters of Battles Organ bit to fit on a command vehicle with your Commissar Vampire playing it.

And you might want to check this out for some potential background justification!

I was thinking about the Vlad Dracul theme and fluff. I kind of like Coppolas take on the myth. Surely this can easily be translated into the 40k-verse. Perhaps an ex Inquisitor who had his beloved burned by the ordo, or something. Something different from Inqs just turning to chaos Very romantic and old school gothic.

Hell Go For IT! It would be an awesome idea, maybe you should just try some small conversion first though to see how it goes before you decide to actually start the project
