I decided that I was going to paint my necrons gold like the one in the codex. It will use metallics and mainly use burnished gold as the main color. However I'm unsure of what to prime it with, Black or White. I would think to do it white, but some people I know say black. Which is the best one?

A lot of it is personal preference. If you prime black, you'll likely get a darker finish overall, and if you prime light, the colors will be a bit brighter. Of course, you can modify this by using washes and glazes and all kinds of stuff.

I usually use black, but for gold white might work well if you want them to really shine. You could split the difference and use a grey primer as well.
