The campaign ended this week when it was (unsurprisingly) found that a player had 10 tiles. Most weeks that player took “All or nothing” which gave him extra points if he won but nothing if he loss. The next campaign will have a completely different ranking system where everyone starts at 500 and moves up and down accordingly. Also the games for the week will match players randomly.
We decided to play 2 vs. 2. Kendal’s Orks and my Kult of Speed against Dan’s Demons and Jakes Marines.
I’ve played with Dan twice before on a team, just last week in fact against Kendal but when I turned my camera on, I found that I left the memory card plugged into the computer.
We all had 1850 point armies so we played on an 8’ x 4’ table.
This first pic shows Jake’s codex and small rule book. He took them to Kinko’s and had them make them into spiral notebooks for easier page turning and keeping it open.
This next pic is pretty awe inspiring. Lewa2321 ordered dice specially made to have the Cobra symbol from G.I. Joe in place of the six. The symbol is stamped into the die and then painted. Just epic.
Onto the game. Jake rolls a 6 to go first and chooses to do so. He deploys 2 Rhinos and a Speeder. I like his army style. He has 6 10-man troops that combat squad and each Sergeant has a Power Fist!! I’ve asked Marine players many times why there aren’t more
PF’s in lists and haven’t got much response. Any Marine players out there want to chime in? Anywho, that’s all that they deploy versus 3700 points of Orks.
The next pictures show first my Orks, than Kendal’s. His are the snow covered ones. You also get to see my brand new almost-finished terrain. I put it in the center and it saw a lot of action all game. Everything is mounted except for 12 Tankbustas. They have been doing really well including this game except for one turn.
Jake drops a pod directly on the building, another pod right in front of my Boyz and proceeds to move up his speeder. His Rhinos move a little and their Marines all burst out and combat squad.
On the other side opposite Kendal’s Orks, Demons start to appear!
BTW a conversation starts about how to justify Space Marines and Demons working together.
Not much happens shooting-wise for the Marines and even less for the Demons. My Battlewagon rams the drop pod in front of it, 2 hits, shaken and stunned. Now it’s blocked unless something else kills it, which of course something else does. This picture shows the end of my assault phase after I wiped out all the Marines and their pod.
Kendal moves everything up to shot and assault the Demons if possible. Dan usually plays it pretty safe with his deep-striking Demons and is quite jealous of Jake’s Drop Pods' Inertial Guidance System.
Top of second and the Marines spread out and more Demons deploy.
Tankbustas in the left most Trukk wreck the Rhino in front of them causing a huge bottleneck. The upper middle Trukk tries to run over the wall but rolls 1 twice on the Difficult terrain test AND the re-roll. I didn’t put Grot Riggers on any Trukks to save points to it’s stuck for the rest of the game!! Mega Nobz advance on foot which is never a good idea. The other Mega Nobz and Orange Mob (Boyz) get on their Trukks and move 13”. Quite a cluster, good thing nothing drops templates on them.
Bikers and Biker Boss shoot up some Marines but kill too many and can’t assault this turn. What’s behind the Rhino in the upper left is the problem. Lysander and 5 Terminators deep strike behind the Rhino ready to shoot and assault my poor bikers!!! “Oh noes” cry the kittens. Mega Nobz get into combat with a squad with the Power Fist Sergeant and lose one Nob while eliminating the whole squad. See they do come in handy after all!!
Here’s the pic of the ultimate chaos of the other side of the board. Your guess is as good as mine. My Orks are so much tidier.
I love this next picture. In the lower left Kendal’s Orks taking out a combat squad. Can you even see the Marines in this shot? Meanwhile the other combat squad from the pod is about to jump off the wall due to falling back after losing combat with a Deff Kopta. A Greater Demon is about to wail on the Orks who have no idea what’s coming and just behind the pod is 3 Flamers looking for a target. (Hint to Flamers: there’s lots of Marines around you)
Looks like some Demons and Marines have killed some Trukks and a whole lotta Boyz. Compare it to the previous picture.
Definitely fewer Orks here and 1 wound on the Greater Demon. Crikey that’s a big ax. I think my Biker Boss would like it after the battle.
My Battlewagon (looted Russ) is not destroyed; it’s climbing over the wrecked Rhino! The 14 Burnas and Big Mek with burna in the BW hit 4 Termies and wound 30 times, he loses 2 after he wiped out most of my Bikes on his previous turn. I missed that picture, sorry. Unfortunately now my Biker Boss with all his wounds remaining is stuck with my retreating Biker Nob who can’t regroup!!!
The Mega Nobz who lost one are shot to death by Bolters because I keep failing my 2+ armor Saves!! The second Mob of 3 Mega Nobz just picks up where the other one left off.
The bottom middle Trukk holds my 12 Tankbustas who in the last turn shoot at the only vehicle they can see which is his last Rhino. 3 penetrating hits and I roll all 1’s!!! The Trukk fires it’s Rokkit, hits, penetrates, and also rolls a 1. The empty Rhino cannot shoot 4 times over this turn.
You finally get to see Red Mob, who donated their Trukk to the Tankbustas and are mostly facing the wrong way for some reason. Oh, and you can just barely see those 3 Flamers peeking out around the corner on the left.
The aftermath of the previous picture with the Mega Nobz failing yet another 2+ save versus 5 marines!!! One more Termie is dead. And I think I forgot to have my Bikes fall back. Not that it mattered at all.
This shot shows my Orks remounted and ready to fire on the 2 Flamers and Lysander and remaining Terminator. Another 60 hits wipes out the flamers and the Termie but Lysander is just fine. Red Mob lost some Boyz somehow, I don’t remember. Orange Mob is tooling around in their Trukk safely within the
KFF Mek’s range while the Mega Nobz prepare to kill some more Marines. My entire force has now shifted 90 degrees to join up with Kendal’s Orks.
The Orks shown here are Nobz laying waste to 2 squads of shooty demons and a bunch of combat squaded Marines. Also there appears to be 2 Soul Grinders rampaging around. Go get ‘em Kendal.
So I finally get to see what’s behind the terrain. 2 Marines.
Yikes, there’s suddenly very few Orks on this side of the table.
Lysander assaulted and blew up my BW so this last shot shows right before I assault him with 37 power weapon attacks. Of course he saves most of them and survives due to his Strom Shield save!! The last 2 Marines on the side die and I blow up one Soul Grinder in the pic and Kendal takes out the other, not in the pic and the game ends.
This was more like 2 games happening separately on the same table until the last turn. It was a great game and everyone had fun. Tankbustas did well again and survived the whole game. A good debut for my only terrain piece.
