Recently I have been updating my SW army with the new minatures this is great because I think they have some good options and the extra models means more for apoc games. However I have just made a discovery that has pissed me off:

THERE IS ONLY A PLASMA GUN AS A SPECIAL WEAPON!!!!

I have made 2 x 10 man GH packs 1x 15 Man BC pack 1 x 5 man LF pack and a few WG and thanks to my extensive bits box I have had no trouble adding melta guns but for some reason I have no flamers since I put them all on my IG. This got me thinking the SM tactical box set has if memory serves a meltagun and a flamer and the SW boxset has a plasma so do GW inted for you to buy one of each and make 2 packs if so I have a major problem with this and that is the fact that if you combine the two you end up with twenty average Space wolves and are still one special weapon short.

The other thing that pisses me off as I survey my reinforcements is how similar the legs make their poses and with the variety of necklaces, wolf tails and knives that hang from their belt they don't twist very well meaning a lot of similar poses.

I have a smurfs army too so I don't have a problem buying the odd vanilla marines boxset to supplement the SW models and change pose a bit but if I didn't I would be seriously pissed. Now don't get me wrong I think the new minatures have a huge ammount of good things about them and I don't expect sympathy from DE, DH and WH players who would love any new minis but I just think that the designers could have put a little bit more thought into this aspect of the models since legs that make the marines look like they are charging are much more suited to blood claws than the static ones and would not look out of place on a few GH and trying to buy extra special weapons is a real pain in the ass.

Anyway rant over if you have noticed anything similar in your armies please post.

I was just thinking about that actually, I have just finished painting 20 Marines and I'm super bored with them already. They all have the same leg poses, they generally have the same army poses, and I don't even have the options for the different heads/chests that you do - so it's worse.

I'm sure some people will say chop up the legs and re-position them but in all honesty this is far too much work for standard marines and GW should have already done it.

I already had some meltaguns left over from my previous Marine armies and Wolves, so I didn't have that problem with my Grey Hunters. I like the people who complain that there's no cyclone missile launcher option for the Wolf Guard Terminators box, seeing how there's twice as many options as any other Terminator box in there.

Yup
totally agree Ed!
the figures become really static without lots of chopping which removes some/lots of the SW details
Am starting from zero so no meltas or plasmas or burners which I had to buy from an ebay bitz store. :(

Won't be buying anymore SW packs as I intend to attempt true scale. With all the chopping that it requires may as well just get vanilla SM's and do my own thang!
Am going to try and get some cheapos on ebay as it seems pointless to pay full wack for the project.

Oh apart from the belts getting in the way, the dangly plaits do and one of the arm options refused to house a shoulder pad so I had to make my own out of Magic Sculpt!
