It has been argued terrorists would not attack Houston, because no one would notice. Fires, explosions, chemical gas cloud leaks, dude that was just your average Tuesday!

Did we ever get an official explanation as to what exactly happened to that oil rig? I never heard other than "Explosion".

Nope it was DEFFINETLY the Government, not terrorists. I mean, the Government blew up the towers and bombed their own building, they faked the moon landing, they HAVE Aliens (and Im not talking Mexicans) in custody so they can reverse engineer their technology that is so far advanced that we cant even jokingly comprehend it.

So the 'terrorists' responsible for this 'plot' CAN co-ordinate 3 seperate 'attacks' including one on a deep-sea oil drilling platform, but CAN'T get their gak together enough to set off one measly carbomb in New York?

Yes and Ill explain why with ANOTHER conspiracy theory. Supposedly what we see doesnt really exist anyways. Its simply light bouncing off of objects and eventually being turned into what we think we see in our brains. So taking that into account, the guys that were to rig the car bomb, just saw things differently then the super awesome bombers on the oil rig.


It has something to do with light wave lengths on different curves of the Earth. Its a bit too technical to explain to a non conspiracy believer.

Here is something I have been working on for a book, tell me what you think:

There are a few major world powers in the world, like say, the U.S. and Russia. There is a terrorist group plotting to take over the world and make everyone conform to their beleifs. So, they attack the country *Like* the U.S., knowing full well that that country would retaliate. They also infiltrate one of their number into a high.... Political position, lets say. That politician starts trying to steer that country into dept, not caring what the people of said country think. Well, after about.... nine years, the terrorist group bomb the other super power, the one like Russia. This pisses the Second superpower off, enough that they will eventually attack the place of where this terrorist group is located. However, #2's methods are piss poor by #1's standards, and so they start to argue. War is not uncommon between 1 and 2, and so eventually they start fighting. A world war breaks out, and after 5 years of bitter fighting between the two sides, they call a truce, though with todays technology, both sides are badly, badly hurt. Then the terrorist group mops up both sides and takes over the world with all the nukes they acquired from both super powers.

Of course, this could never happen....

There was a lot of stuff written like that in the 90s, when people were trying to find a new villain post Cold War and focussed on terrorist organisations. A lot of the plots involved artificial wars like the one you posted. There were some pretty fun stories.

The story you’ve given is ludicrous, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad story. If you accept the fantastical nature and run with it, keep the pace moving and make the characters interesting, I think it could work. Just make sure you focus more on the characters discovering the plot than the specifics of the plot.

The real conspiracy is that the oil companies blew the rig, the refinery, and the bomb in New York; just to drive up the price of oil.

Obviously, Godzilla is to blame... there is no other option.



Alternatively, something with the concrete... or something.

I think it is getting to close to 2012.

What I enjoy most is the implication that this kind of reasoning is somehow 'labyrinthine'. I mean, politicians saying one thing and meaning another? Outrageous! Who ever heard of such a thing!

Yes this is a terror plot, but not from islam. It's a group of mexicans called Los Aztekas. They are trying to make the world believe that the 2012 end of the world thing is actually real.

Necros, it is real! This will be my third apoclaypse. We had the millennium in 2000 (my personal favorite, the sexy Y2K), the real milennium in 2001 or 2002 (i wasn't paying much attention to that one), and now the 2012 end of the Mayan Calendar!

Although I still contend that if the Mayan calendar had been accurate as a prophetic tool, it would have stopped sometime after the Spanish Conquistadors destroyed the Mayan civilization. It was, after all, the end of their world.

I've probably left some out, but I'm eager for as many apocalypses to occur as possible. Until the dead rise from the earth in the zombie apocalypse I will remain amused by the apocalypses (apocalypsis? I'm not sure of the correct plural form).

For my money- it was eco-terrorist, in a submarine, with foreign backing.

Sounds like it was time for another round of 'excuses' to raise gas prices in the US again!
