Well, it's that time of the year again. I figured that I would post my list here to see what changes I might want to make before the event. I'd love to hear what other people of this list.

Vanguard are not worth it at all. Dump 'em.

Both termie squads should be assault termies. Get rid of Sgt Chronus.

Venerable Dread is not so good as a suicide melta unit. Get a regular dread.

Get rid of the power weapons out of the 5 man razorback squads. They will be hanging back as static scoring units and power weapons on tac squads are bad enough. Uselessly putting them on tac squads that should not ever get out of a transport voluntarily is truly a waste of points.

Dump the extra armor on the ac/las pred. No need for it at all.

Take the extra points and get some good fast attack slots filled, like mm/hf speeders or hb/typhoon speeders and/or pick up another pred.

Personally I would take Vanguard's over standard Assault troops sense they can take a Razorback over a Rhino as a DT considering I'm using Khan as my HQ. Having the Lascannon for this helps with anti-Armor for my list.

imweasel wrote:Both termie squads should be assault termies. Get rid of Sgt Chronus.

My only problem is that I only have one squad of Assault Termies. If I had a second set I definatly would us them in place of my Black Reach Termies. As for SGT. Chronus, I added him for the increase in BS of the Land Raider, making it easier to hit and also give my opponent a moment to pause and think about giving me one more model to attack them with if they try to destroy the Land Raider.

imweasel wrote:Venerable Dread is not so good as a suicide melta unit. Get a regular dread.

I have to agree that the Venerable is a Suicide unit, but on turn one have a good shot at taking out a heavily armored unit is worth it as my opponent will have to decide if they want to attack the Dread or attack the Pred and have me assault them the next turn. If I can force them to Focus Fire on the item that has the higher chance of negating their attacks I'll take it.

I have the Power Weapons on the 5 man squads because they have fewer troops in them. If the squad has to fight (guarding an objective) I like the idea of being able to make every attack on the SGT. worth it.

imweasel wrote:Dump the extra armor on the ac/las pred. No need for it at all.

I completely forgot that I had put that on it, nice catch. I think the reason I had installed the extra armor was so that if it was attacked that I had a better chance of still being able to fire back afterwords.

If I had Speeders or any more Assault troops then I probably would add a second Fast Attack choice. As for the Second Pred my problem is that I am already maxing out my Rhino chassis's with this list.

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas Imweasel. I will keep them in mind.

Yes General_Chaos, I do know that Extra Armor drops Stunned to Shaken, and that you cannot shoot during your next turn from this result. But, being able to drive away from where your getting shot at is a plus in my book even if you can't shoot back. But every little bit helps in 'Ard Boyz. The longer I can keep my Predator alive the better it is for me.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well, after much thought, I think I will be changing up my list some. I don't have my copy of the codex sitting right here next to me for the point changes but I think it should work out.

HQ:
CPT. Recardo "Khan" Montobon (Kor'sarro Khan) Points: 160
Khan as the HQ for the Outflank.

Troop:
Tact Squad 1 (blue) Points 210
10 Man, Flamer, Missile Launcher, Melta-bomb
Rhino (dedicated transport)

Tact Squad 2 (red) Points 210
10 Man, Flamer, Missile Launcher, Melta-bomb
Rhino (dedicated transport)

Tact Squad 3 (robes) Points 200
5 man, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Melta-bomb
Razorback (Lascannon) (dedicated transport)

Tact Squad 4 (Misc) Points
5 man, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Melta-bomb
Razorback (Assault Cannon) (dedicated transport)

I'll be leaving the troops the same as before. Having Power Weapons on the two 5man squads will help clear out any enemy figures that try to take their objectives.

Elite:
Venerable Dreadnought Points 200
Multi-Melta arm, Close Combat Arm
Drop-pod (dedicated transport)

Terminator Assault Squad Points 450
5 man, Pairs of Lighting Claws (x5)
Land Raider Redeemer, Multi-Melta

I dropped the second Termie squad to transfer the Land Raider over to the heavy slot to back up the Predator.

Fast Attack:
Vanguard Veteran Squad Points 180???
5 man, Close combat Weapon (x4), Power Weapon, bolt Pistol (x5), Melta-bomb, Jump Packs (Heroic Intervention)

I switch them over to Heroic Intervention mode as the majority of my opponents at the venue that I will be playing at will probably expect me to have them in a Razorback.

Heavy:
Predator Points ???
Twin Linked Lascannon, Lascannon Sponsons (drop Extra Armor)

Dropped the Extra Armor and switched the Auto to a Lascannon

Land Raider Points ???
Multi-Melta, SGT. Chronus

Transfered Chronus's Land Raider to a heavy slot to give me a second heavy just in case.

Point total ???

Your all-LC terminator squad is making me rethink taking defilers or a dread! Watch out for these sort of things. Those units love expensive, specialized units like all LC terminator squads.

Well, I'm planning on having Khan attached to the LC Termies. So they can us the Hit and Run rule to break away for that matter. But I think the Defilers & Dread's would be more worried about the turn one deepstriking Venerable that will be looking to Melta their Rear armor. Clearing the way for the LC Termies showing up later.

Meh. One shot that hopes it doesn't scatter too far out of range, hits, penetrates, rolls high enough on the damage table, isn't playing a dawn of war mission where said dreads/defilers are starting off the board, etc. If you're deepstriking behind a defiler on turn 1, you're in serious danger of scattering your drop pod right off the board.

Be careful.
