Better how? I personally like Cain the character more, but Gaunt's honor and steadfast belief strikes a note with me. In terms of being a better political officer...they both perform poorly.
Now I haven't read but half of their books but what I have read they both have very liberal views of what it means to be a commissar. Both abuse their station and when it comes to fighting, the company they keep pulls them out of the fire.
I guess until I finish their books I'll stick to Cain for the fact that he KNOWS it's all politics and works it whereas Gaunt is suffering from the system

Lols i think that Mkollm is 1 of the best but Rawne would have to be to be up there so would Larks' and Cuu(not hes a pyscopath). but amberley not so much. but the best thing would be if Gaunt and Cain temaed up to fight horus. Horus would haev no chance he wouldn't even last a minute (10 seconds).
