Glad there's a "don't have a clue" option, now. For whatever reason, I'm compelled to vote in all of the Dakka polls, but I don't even pay attention to American politics, let alone that of other countries...

It will probably be whichever socialist that can count on the votes of those already enslaved by the system.
That's the way it's going in America these days; it's probably the same elsewhere in the west.

Well, it's pretty much certain now.
We are gonna have a Tory/LibDem Coalition, with Cameron as the Prime Minister. Even if Labour get the Lib Dems on their side, they still wont have a majority.

As for the poll, I went with Brown Trousers, since from what I've heard Parliament's hung.

It's odd that the conservatives are in the majority but everyone is scrambling to form coalitions. It'll be interesting to see what happens as this hasn't occured in, what 32 years?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

OFT.
See this is my point exactly.
I admire Strength. Like all red blooded Englishmen, i admire stoicness and a stiff upper lip above all else.
If Brown had called that old woman a bigot to her face, id applaud the man, but no. What did Brown do? It was all "lovely family, nice family, very nice family" and then BIGOT when he thought he was alone.
Thatcher screwed some things up, but wasnt afraid of anybody. She had more balls than any male Prime Minister we have had, and THAT is something to respect. Regardless of her failings, i want somebody who wont take any gak. Not these cringing hand wringing fething girlymen we get running now.

I love it when people use 'I speak my mind' as an excuse to be ignorant. All politicians are placed in situations where they have to smile and play nice with people they fething loathe. The gaff was leaving the mic on...
Thatcher sold our national assets, left our manufacturers to the wolves and invited foreign companies to trade in the UK whilst taking their final profit back to their own nations.
She introduced the Poll Tax. The most ruthless tax on the poor since the window tax. When people protested, she used riot police on them, shortly after, we had full riots in the streets of our major cities.
She tore gaping holes in the NHS with cuts to nursing, doctors etc and put the extra levels of management in, in attempt after attempt to prepare it for privitisation.
She openly stated her contempt for anyone who was not tory, she openly condemned anywhere outside the home counties to wither and die, she stated that all she need do was keep 1 in 3 on side and screw the rest.
She butchered the national pension. She massacred the state school budgets.
She was utterly evil and the one thing that's pointed me to the existance of God is her malevolent ass getting dementia.

Blair sold our national assets, and our gold reserves left our solvent manufacturers to the wolves and invited foreign companies to trade in the UK whilst taking their final profit back to their own nations.
He introduced 3000 draconian new laws. The most ruthless scourge on the population since the Civil War. When people did nothing wrong, he used riot police on them, shortly after, we had people getting locked down on spurious premises.
Blair tore gaping holes in the NHS with quangos etc and put the extra levels of management in, in attempt after attempt to prepare it for partisan party politicisation.
Blair openly stated her contempt for anyone who was not Nu Labour, and drummed them out of the civil service making it party politicised.
Blair butchered the national pension. by squandering all our wealth and the wealth of two generations on quangos and dogmas Blair massaged the state school budgets. giving extra cash to failing schools, not to make them work but to bankroll PC ideologies, schools in tTry and Lidb Dem wards were starved of funding to give the impression those parties cannot run a budget.
Blair was utterly evil and the one thing that's pointed me to the non-existance of God is he now claims to be a practicing Catholic.

I've never worked in a mine, I've been an office worker for most of my employed life. I currently work in the financial sector, married without kids. I am the tory demographic.
But, I believe in social responsibility, in the maintainence of the NHS, Social Support and Education and a degree of reasonable living for all who wish to contribute to society.
The basic principal of what you've espoused so far is greed. 'I'm alright Jack and f**k you if you aren't', well I don't hold with that and I think those who do are narrow sighted, it's enlightened self interest to support and maintain the greater society around you and elevate everyone's standard of living.
There are problems with benefit system and the culture of exploiting them, as a socialist, who believes all should pull their weight, I'm just as opposed to it's exploitation than you are as a capitalist. I'm about improving it and getting those who are in reciept of benefits doing something for the nation. You would instead see those people starved.
I never agreed with Sure Start and other 'soft' methods of changing those problem families and areas and getting them off their state supported lifestyle, I want to see people who are in reciept of benefits going to work for their money. 4 days a week, the 5th spent in monitored jobhunting.
I imagine there are a fair few in Newcastle who have no love of the tories, the heavy industries on the Tyne suffered greatly under Thatcher.
