Hello all,

Regarding the assault phase..

Page 36 in the rulebook states, "If both sides have models with the same initiative value, their attacks are made simultaneously.

How does that work?

If a squad of 5 Space Marines and 5 Chaos Space Marines all hit and wound each other, would they all be dead in that assault phase?

Short answer
Yep. If they all fail their armour save.

All of the attacks are made simultaneously. So yes, there is potential to kill each other at the same time.

Actually Happened to me the last game I played..

Daemon Prince Vs Black Templars Chaplain.

Both dead at the end of the assault.

Pretty cool if you ask me

Yes, they attack at the same time!

Okay cool thanks!

I was confused because I played my first game a couple days back and units had same I. Instead of simultaneous combat, we rolld 1d6 to see which unit went first LOL

The way I usually handle this is, I count my # of attacks at I4 and so does my opponent. I usually tell him to make his rolls first (hit, wound) then I roll saves. Instead of removing the models off the table I knock them down or pull them away from the combat (they still get their attacks). Then I go until the assault is finished.

Yup thats pretty much how I do it as well. You guys dont have to make your rolls at the exact same time, but you treat the resolution like it happened at the same time.

Yep, that's exactly what I do, too. I always just move casualties a couple of inches back from the combat to help keep track of wounds for combat resolution, too. Then, once the morale checks have been made, that's when I put the minis back in their case.
