Here is my story. I really like the WE model range and really like the kindreds, so I thought why not make a list about a "tale of 4 nobles" all with different kindreds. Here is my list.

Noble - wild rider, stag, (not sure about his magic items) = 210
Noble - wardancer, blades of Loec = 140
Noble - waywatcher, either (blight of terrors) or (Hawk's Talon and Shrikes) = 160
Noble - alter, Hail of Doom arrow, Helm of the Hunt, GW, LA = 156

10x glade guard = 120
10x glade guard = 120
10x glade guard = 120
10x glade guard = 120
8x dryads = 96
8x dryads = 96
5x glade riders = 120
5x glade riders = 120
5x wardancers = 90
5x wild riders w/ command and war banner = 191
5x waywatchers = 120
Total = 1979 Not sure what to do with the extra 21 points.
I was also thinking about dropping the dryads and a unit of glade guard and putting in a unit of eternal guard (sweet models, granted I don't have any at the moment. Might try converting some corsairs). I would drop the alter kindred to an eternal kindred then. It is a shame that eternal guard suck compared to the other elf guards (phoenix guard and black guard). I also know that I have once again forsaken magic. I just didn't have room for it in my mind to go with the theme. Glamourweave is a kindred, but I don't know which noble I would take out. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks.

I quite like the idea. likely won't be competitive in a tornament as there is no magic defence but definately a good fun list to play with and against (as long as they are not magic heavy)

firstly your comments

1 - eternal guard - nope I wouldn't put them in.
2 - Noble on stag - I think the dawnspear is a good item to put on him. It protects his unit when he is in combat
3 - wardancer noble - Unless if you are dedicated to a 4 noble army i'd suggest making him a lord with the annoyance of netlings and the amber pendant (in addition to the blades). That makes one of the best lord choices we have (in my opinion). I'd also bump his body guard unit up to 7 with muso and champ
4 - waywatcher noble - I like the blight of terrors idea. but if you talon and shrikes then maybe drop him down to a scout as you loose yourlethal shot rule which you are effectively paying 20pts for

To make points I'd drop a unit of glade guard. I think 4 is a bit too much. for more points if needed a unit of glade riders maybe

Thanks for the advice.

Yea I probably wasn't going to use the eternal guard. It is unfortunate they don't cut it, they are really cool models. I was thinking of trying them as somewhat of an anvil unit.

I was thinking the dawnspear too and then I started thinking about the oaken armor or nettlings and locus. I think I will go the dawnspear though if I am going with the wardancer lord.

That is a sweet lord build. I always have a lord on a dragon when I go the lord route, but I think I will try that wardancer lord build.

I was thinking the sniper waywatcher noble would certainly be close enough to snipe first turn. I though that might help with the no magic.

I was hoping to cut the guard too, since I don't have 40 of them. I was also thinking the dryads (even though they are extremely useful) just so it was an all wood elf army.
I will work on a tweaked list. Thanks again.

On the perfumed wind

From what I understand, a list structured entirely around eternal guard can get some mileage out of them, but it has to be the focus and even then it's not competitive. I agree though, I like the idea. Especially since so few people take them.

I think the 4 kindreds would be fun if you were playing like minded players. You can absorb the hits from a couple level 2s, but a crazy high magic list will be pretty brutal.

Still, I quite like the idea, and would love to see you go for it.

Ok here are some changes.

Highborn - wardancer, blades of Loec, amber pendant, nettlings = 290
Noble - wild rider, stag, dawnspear = 195
Noble - waywatcher, either (blight of terrors) or (Hawk's Talon and Shrikes) = 160
Noble - alter, Hail of Doom arrow, Helm of the Hunt, GW, LA = 156

10x glade guard = 120
10x glade guard = 120
10x glade guard = 120
8x dryads = 96
8x dryads = 96
5x glade riders = 120
5x glade riders = 120
7x wardancers, w/ command = 147
5x wild riders w/ command and war banner = 191
5x waywatchers = 120
Total = 2051
I could drop a unit of dryads and then just fill in the points to get to 2k. Or I can spend another 199 points to make a 2250 list. Not sure what I should spend the 199 on though.

I still can't decide on the sniper waywatcher or the terror causer behind your lines waywatcher. I want to stick with waywatchers because of their models, granted I could still use those models and count them as scouts.

I also don't know about 35 - 40% characters I would have. Seems silly to make lists that might not be legal. I should just wait on the new rules to see what's up.

I like 2250pt lists. gives you that little more fat to put in what you want rather than skimming to get to what you can take. Now for 200 points a unit of treekin could go well (even though I don't usually reccomend them). I usually never use them but they may give you a bit more punch which you don't currently have.

Alternatively another unit of dancers (as per the current ones) and an eagle would be quite nice (This I would frequently use). that is also 197pts which is pretty close to 2250

Thanks leighr. I am sorely lacking in the forest spirit department, other than dryads, so I would probably go with the second suggestion. I think I even have those models (or close enough). I would use a warhawk as my eagle and my second unit of wardancers would be missing the command models, but I could probably manage that. I was thinking about losing a unit of dryads and adding the eagle to get that list down to 2k, but it would still be over by 5, I think.

Anyway thanks.

Alright, I am trying to motivate myself to start painting. I am thinking of doing the Autumn Blend theme from the GW site and adding in a unit or two of Twilight Attack or the Waystone Defender. Any advice?

Great theme idea!! However, why not add in a spellsinger for some minimum magic defense, instead of a noble? You could make them glamourweave kindred, to continue your theme of different kindreds... since you have a "highborn" rather than a "noble" now anyway . You could call it "A tale of four kindreds" and try to include members of each kindred in the list as well... the dryads will do nicely for the glamourweave, you've already got wild riders, waywatchers, and wardancers... so imho the alter would be the one to drop (he's the most common anyway, even though he's awesome, so for this theme I'd let him go )

So then you've got all of the bases covered theme-wise! I think the dryads will help your list have some counter-punch, so I'd like to see you leave them in. Eternal guard would be cool, but I like your theme without them as well, and it will let you play the more traditional wood elf style.

Very, very cool so far! I also think making it 2250 would give you the room to add what you're looking for and round it out nicely . Sorry I don't have any painting advice, I have to pay others for it :-/. But making a rocking list always helps me get interested in my army again so you're on the right track there!

Edit: I think if you go without the highborn, you could fit 2 of units of each kindred in your list, in addition to the three glade guard units and two glade riders. I was trying to run the numbers but it gets a bit complex, especially since I don't usually take these units... I'm going to see what you think about the above ideas and give more feedback after I see your thoughts
