Here is my all-plastic Lictor conversion.
Should look pretty familiar; I'm not claiming much originality, but I am pretty proud of a few features. A few I'd like to point out:
-Genestealer tentacle-mouth head, but with back of warrior head cut away to be more Lictor-like (and to fit under the hood/carapace)
-custom skull/skeleton strewn base! (I'm planning on doing these for basically the whole army. I've been reproducing various skulls and bone bitz with greenstuff etc., and have built up a bunch of these for the project)
-custom-made scything talons - I thought that the monstrous ones were way to big, but the warrior ones too small, so I made my own.
-the pelvis has been rotated a little to give him a lower, sneakier profile. I also turned the tail over to give him a more sinuous, sneaky line.
Critiques/feedback/advice highly welcome! Thanks Dakka community!

Looks pretty good, but I think it may be a bit...chunky. I dunno, I always imagined lictors a bit thinner than that.

Perhaps they're the C'tan. |

i think real Lictors are equally chunky, it's just that they are posed with the arms all splayed out, rather than mine, which is kinda crouched down with his arms drawn in, to be all sneaky-lookin'. i don't imagine the Tyranids #1 sneaky killer from the dark running around waving its arms in the air like a maniac. that would make it hard to sneak up on prey in my mind...

Chunky is better!
This is a NICE looking model, plus it is all plastic.
In other words, awesome all around!

thanks! i like to create all-plastic conversions for several reasons:
1-economy. a Lictor blister is $20 (i think - i refuse to pay full price, so i am not even sure) converting a Warrior is much cheaper.
2-challenge. it's just fun to see if i *CAN* make a good-looking model based off other parts.
3- uniqueness. no one else will have a model exactly like mine!
4- thrift. in addition to #1, i just hate to waste bits. since the great plastic kits these days have so many leftover bits, i want to use them!
5- material. i hate how much of a pain in the butt metal is. they break more easily, and are just harder to handle.
more to come!

That is so awesome, the base is great.

Guilliman and the Ultramarines are like Manchester United, everyone hates them because they are so awesome!

Like it lots.
You didn't consider using spare Trygon ScyTals? They are chunky, but I (like you) like the chunky look - Lictors shouldn't look spindly.

i did think about using Trygon talons, but i didn't have any on hand. i might buy a Trygon soon (probably to be a Tervigon), but this was just done with what i had to work with.
