Hey up!
Im new to warmachine and need some help! My gamer impulse made me buy kommander strakhov for khador, its just a great model! Im still unsure on the rule, but i dont care! this guy is going to be my warcaster!
This is where you lot come in! Which way do i take the force now? and which models are next on the agenda?... From what i understand strakhov meshes well with warjacks? i understand being khador that they dont have light jacks and focus on the heavier 1s?... the armies are generally smaller to which suits me fine! Although im painting flesh tearers at the mo and im bored of red!

I like the look of the doomreaver unit, widow makers and the solo widow maker char, and the assault troops... now which to buy 1st?

Any help would be great!

Liam

First off, welcome to the greatest faction in the game.

Secondly appearance-wise there is a paint scheme which mirrors Eastern Front WWII Russian camo. Very olive drab, you might like it.

Because of a warcasters free "jack-points" you may only want to run one jack in smaller games. With Strakhovs spell Superiority you definatly want to have at least one Jack. Great Targets for Superiority are Spriggans, Beast-09, Kodiaks, Juggernauts.

As for an army-Strakhov gives the Assault kommandoz a boost and he has a spell that makes them Stealth'd. Combine that with immunity to fire and corrosion and the AK's become an almost no-brainer. Add in some flame-throwers that you can lay down right over your own AK's (immune) and you have a great unit.

Widowmakers and the solo are excellent ranged choices. Doomreavers are talked about alot but Ive personally never used them. Uhlans are superfast under Strakhovs feat but suffer from a big price tag. A wardog is an excellent point filler and helps your caster when they are up close and personal with his counter charge and the melee boost.

A 25 point list ive ran in the past follows:

Kommander Strakhov 6
Spriggan 10
War dog 1
Assault Kommandos (Leader and 9 Grunts)8
3 Assault Kommando Flame Throwers 3
Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 5 Grunts) 3
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Widowmaker Marksman

The Alpha Strike is your Spriggan and AK's and to a smaller extent ,the wardog. The WM's encourage the enemy to close with you quickly and snipe important parts of the enemy force (negate enemy stealth with Spriggan grenades). This force could be adjusted by dropping a few flamers and down grading the Spriggan to a Jugger if you want some more models. Crush the enemies of the Motherland!

GorBlitz FTW!!

Now olive drab i can do! got some vallejo paints that fit the bill... i think i will "borrow" your list as a starting point and work from there.
The wardog looks cool but does it fit the khador fluff? also mate, what terrain do i use? i have a 9ft x 4ft table built for 40k, half trenches.. will it do?

ANy terrain is fine. I like dense. Keeps the shooting off you till the big push turn. The wardog fits the fluff and is are only in-faction 1 point solo so he rounds out lists nicely and is more of a toolbox then another flame weapon attachment. Most WM scenarios are built with a 4'X4' table in mind. You only really need a bigger space when you go up to 75-100 points or so.

GorBlitz FTW!!
