This is something that I've been thinking about for some time but never really got round to turning into a list, until now. Seeing scout bikes as a highly underrated unit, I decided to make a list based around them, using the Blood Angels book to maximize their potential. Please read the tactics below before commenting.
HQ: Mephiston
5 Honour Guard: 4x Melta, Drop Pod
Troops:
5 Scouts, Missile Launcher
5 Scouts, Missile Launcher
5 Scouts, Missile Launcher
5 Scouts, Missile Launcher
Fast Attack
10 Vanguard Veterans, 4 Lightning Claws, 2 Power Fists
10 Scout Bikers, 3 Astartes Grenade Launchers, Power Fist, Locator Beacon
10 Scout Bikers, 3 Astartes Grenade Launchers, Power Fist
The tactics that go with this list are very specific:
If you go first, turbo-scout the bikes in front of the enemy, 12" away with a wide frontage and small gap between the units. Using the beacon, DS the Pod 6" in front of the bikes and between the units so it is as far forward as possible and preferably opposite a heavy vehicle. Now, move up to within charge range with your bikes and either fire all weapons at an enemy unit with power weapons or use the grenade launchers against a transport. Use the meltas form the Pod unit to pop a tank if possible. Shoot the scouts at transports that are in front of the bikes. Hopefully, now the enemy will be left with a few units on foot. Tie these up with the wide frontage bike squads which also benefit from furious charge and FNP from the Sanguinary Novitiate in the Honour Guard. Anything that is killed is a bonus.
In the enemy turn, their shooting will have been severely hampered so casualties should be low.
Now, Mephiston may be in charge range and if the vanguard come in, multi assault if possible (they will wipe out units before they can strike back). Use these two units to kill enemies that can hurt your bikes badly. You can now successfully keep the enemy pinned in their deployment zone.
If you get second turn, combat squad the bikes so that all the special weaponbs are in one half. Charge a weak squad one turn witht eh vanilla half and keep the other for outflanking. Alternatively, keep the whole squad in reserve. Use the scouts to screen Mephiston if need be and use the vanguard to take out powerful enemy units.
Thankyou for reading. Comments and criticisms welcome
