Hey Everyone,

So, now that Deffrollas are officially bad-arse, I'm definitely taking them on my BattleWagons to the upcomin' 'Ard Boyz tourney.

However, a few issues have recently come to my attention. These rules are all assuming the Deffrolla is attached to da front of the Battlewagon, on the ground, like the standard GW Models suggest.

Most of these revolve around with the Deffrolla is part of vehicle hull, and how it would count for things such as being assaulted, disembarking and measuring distances for Tank-shocking/Ramming, as well as shooting or being shot at.
I could break these down into questions..1. 2. 3. etc, but I think I covered most of my concerns in the list above.

So My question is, in a tournament setting, how have you handled these ruling issues?

I had one suggestion of placing the Deffrolla on top of the BattleWagon. This would probably avoid most of the rules issues, but doesn't seem right Proppa to me. My idea was magnetizing it to the front and removing it or adjusting it UP so that units can assault, disembark and what not.

You have to ask your TO.

End of discussion. Evey tournament is different, so we cannot help you here unfortunately.

Personally, I don't count it as hull or as a weapon.

Do this but dont waste magnets...it will stay on just fine without them...and its still easy enough to just move up when it gets in the way...i too play it as neither part of the hull nor a weapon...so the front grille of my wagon has to touch their vehicle...i think that is the most reasonable way to play it...

Doesn't count as hull. All my opponents so far can move theirs though. Will get messy as soon as I play someone who can't.

move it to the up position...barring that remove it...my rolla is simply decorative

I always discuss it with my opponent(s) before the game start usually during deployment because my deffrolla will stick out past the deployment zone. I explain that all measurements (moving, shooting, ramming, disembarking, etc....is there are any) are taken from the hull not the deffrolla

My Deffrolla is counted as part of the hull. But its counted as part of the hull for everything (not such a big deal since my rollers on my scratch built battlewagons take up the entire front edge. The roller has to be behind the deployment line during deployment. If it rolls on from the table edge, the front edge of the roller cannot be any further from the table edge than the vehicle moved. If my opponents meltagun is within 6 inches of the roller, he gets double pen dice.

Solves all the issues. I also usually have it played that its not a weapon. Its clearly in the wargear section of the vehicle armory.

May I suggest the inverse trapezoid-shaped battlewagon? Or the Deffrolla twice as long as the wagon?

Seriously though, just ask your opponent before the game and it's all good, right? There's no difference in-game whether it's part of the hull or not, as the hull must reach the target unit during a Tank Shock... if it's not part of the hull, you set up the battlewagon as if the Rolla wasn't there. I think. Maybe.

Nope, contact of any kind with any part of the model will do. Hence many of the rolla modeling issues and arguments.

Alright!

Everyone has some great suggestions here, and I really appreciate it. I definitely want to have it on the front of the Battlewagon, but I think it would be awesome if I could swing it to get it out of the way. It also makes sense Fluff-wise, since Battlewagons may very well have Arms that lift the Deffrolla up for purposes of doing more damage to the upper section of a vehicle, or allowing troops to disembark.

I DO still want to magnetize it though, just in case I decide I want to completely remove it and attach a Reinforced Ram. Unless it's possible to remove and re-attach both without magnetizing them. What do you guys think?

Then, when I go to the tournament, I'll ask the TO or my opponent if it should be counted as the hull or simply a decorative element, and I'm sure we can come to some kinda agreement.

It is possible...i just pop one in and pop the other out...I do use both rollas and rams
