When you REALLY want to go to the 'Ard Boyz Tournament but have to work do you...
A) Request Regular leave due to the abundance of leave you have on the books.
B) Call in sick for the day.
...apparently, the answer is 'B', it's a shame I went with 'A'.
I love the fact that I have to suffer because my Jail is understaffed. BTW, the guy that denied my leave is the same Supervisor that refused to let me take a halfday to attend a funeral for a good friend of mine that died in a fire about two years ago. Again, blaming the fact that we were understaffed for the day.
I hope you're joking about the funeral thing. If I ever had a boss refuse me time off for a funeral I'd simply leave, and threaten legal action if they attempted to do anything about it. That's absolutely unacceptable to me.
Sadly in the US it wouldn't get too far because it is technically not "death in the family". Tough break though man, I'd call in sick anyway & tell him to shove it if he tried to call me out.

That sucks. the whole u.s prison system sucks. Woth like what 70-80% recidivism rate? no wonder you guys are understaffed. Dont they also have mandatory overtime. This is what happens whne you focus on punishment rather then rehabilitation.
