Episode 55 is a mega-sode! The topic of WH40K Horus Heresy just screamed for extra time to do it justice.

But first there is the matter of a contest to resolve. Listen along with the D6G team as we review the top audio entries in our "Please can I have a copy of Runewars" contest.

After that, it's off to Games Workshop's world of Warhammer 40,000. Or is it 30,000? Anyway ... Join us as we explore the details of the new game from Fantasy Flight Games with none-other than Jeff Tidball . Learn how Jeff came to work on the project, what were the challenges, and where did all the great ideas come from?

And finally, the big review. The boys dive deep into the innards of the Horus Heresy game. Is it worth the money? Does it capture the theme? And most importantly... is it fun?

All that and our usual 'not too horrible' humor, with features such as:

•The Hollywood Minute
•Total Fan Girl
•What's in the News
•Words from Wales
•& More

I'm listening now, but I just had to say that I loved all of the contest entries. I won't spoil it here, but your choice of winner was dead-on.

Brilliant contest entries, and really enjoyable witty repartee (as per usual). Still! A bit anemic at only 3 hours! Actually, got me through a fair bit of sculpting in the morning and I was looking forward to the rest when I got home. Nice interviews to polish off the show. Kudos.

Sent you guys an email, but figured I'd post here, because I'm sure everyone will be interested...

My entry was the one where I talked about my poor gaming group converting over to Euros, and I was forced to play games that involve things like making postal routes. I was bummed to lose...but the right winner was picked, and mine was probably the most boring out of all the ones you played, LOL. Anyway, to answer the question...YES, there is a game that involves forming postal routes in 19th century Germany...Thurn and Taxis. And it's actually not a bad game, if you like Ticket to Ride and the like.

Ahh, I've heard good things about Thurn and Taxis, but I'd never known the theme was postal routes!!!

Thanks for the info.

I think you guys absolutely chose the right contest winner. They were all awesome, but the winning entry was the awesomesauce of the awesome. When I heard that one, my immediate thought was, "Wow, if this one doesn't win, I will have lost all faith in the creative process."

Kind of bummed me out that I listened to the podcast too late to put together my own submission...but then again, I'm not sure if I could have beaten that one.

Yup, it's a very good gateway game, I think. It's very similar to Ticket to Ride, in that you're practicing hand management in order to build a route between specific cities on the map. The map is of Germany, split up into 7(I think) distinct areas - Bavaria, etc. Anyway, you get points for completing specific routes, for having a post office in all the cities of one specific area, having one post office in each of the 7 areas, etc. Like Ticket to Ride, you draw cards from a deck where a number of cards are turned face up. However, you have certain abilities to alter the draw deck - you can flush all 6 face-up cards and start fresh, and some other options that I can't recall right now. It plays pretty quick - 3 players it's about an hour or so, with 4 players maybe 90 minutes. It has two expansions, but I haven't played them.

Great show once again, and at 4.5 hours I actually didnt get through it all at work today.

Amazing contest entries, great job listeners!

Raef - Another great look into the mind of Hollywood, as an mmo player I found it very insightful, totally jimmy jango.

Russ & Raef, I've finally given in and my first Warmachine models are on the way!

Owen! Glad to see you back, bravo sir, bravo.

Nicole, another great segment, been loving the interviews, keep up the great work.

I'll post any other comments after I finish up the last hour and a half tomorrow.

As sad as I was to lose, the right choice was made. I'm just glad mine was played before that entry!

Hi All:

Have not posted in a long time but I read the posts all the time. Yeah, when the postal game was described, I thought man that sounds like fun! I will have to check that one out.

Also, the HWM part II definitely hit more where with I was trying to go. Thanks for sticking with me.

HD out.

LOL, Craig.

Did you visit Italy by any chance on your mediterranean cruise?

There is no such thing as a queue in Italy. It's part of the country's charm

Indeed I was in Italy for much of the cruise. And Costa IS an Italian cruise line.

But at the risk of angering listeners across the globe (more), an awful lot of those people who forget English and plow into a 'line' have a distinctly . . . Gallic . . . accent . . .

But seriously, Quozle, if I may be so bold, what the heck is up with the elevator thing?!??

Far-stretching, endless Time
Brings forth all hidden things,
And buries that which once did shine.
The firm resolve falters, the sacred oath is shattered;
And let none say, "It cannot happen here".

Another good episode (so far, I am have only had time to listen to half of it!) -- I really enjoyed the contest entries.

I think all the contest entries were fantastic and that any one of them would have been worthy of winning; I think it says much about the quality of listener when you have this large of a turnout for a contest that requires creativity and you have a large turnout.

I am honor bound to say that Fredericksburg does actually have an excellent games store: Game Vault (www.thegamevault.net), and that is has not been ravaged in recent memory. Except maybe for a Magic: The Gathering tournament a couple months ago. No meeples were harmed to my knowledge.

I think the show silenced any of the critics who were commenting on lack of content. If this does not make them happy, I'm not sure what will. Oh, and the stinger at the end was awesome.

True story: I'm listening to the D6G when the doorbell rings; it's the UPS guy. It's my new copy of Thurn and Taxis.

I had a gift card, and had the choice of buying either Thurn and Taxis or a Kodiak. I used it on Thurn and Taxis. Then I bought the Kodiak, anyway. And a widowmaker unit. And a Marauder. And a man hunter. Long story short: I'm using an old French dictionary for t.p. Ca fait mal...

Yes, Owen, Yes!

I found myself pushing my chair back from the desk violently, splashing coffee over the half painted Winter Guard unit and rising to thrust codex grey-tipped brush to the sky. A harsh barking issued from my heaving chest, "Die, Ruleslawyers, Die!" As my warcry diminished across the green prairies of the Great Plains and I pulled my chair back underneath me I smiled. Words From Wales was back and sorely missed. Thanks.

HD will enjoy Thurn and Taxis although in my mind it seems like the the theme is tacked on. A nice game with high quality components. The names of the towns are fun to say then you are building your route. Still fu to play when your group is in for something lite.

Great show, fellas!

Thanks Beshkno , you know what its like ?, when you feel strongly enough about something there's nothing like a Mashup of classic battlefield speeches to clear the air.
