So if "the model" can reroll failed armor saves, does that include his mount? A chariot? Tfg was at a tourney last weekend and argued that although "model" means including mounts and so on, it made no sense for the character's man-shaped suit of plate to fix the ride (the war altar in this case, but other books have similar items e.g. gromril great helm for brets.) Thoughts?

Model is just that the model. In the case of a character on a mount, if the mount has more than one wound it would not benefit from any magic item on the character unless it specifically states it effects the mount as well.

Actualy that is incorrect. Page 93, iirc, defines a character on monstrous mount as *1* model.
So strictly the mount gets the benefits. The problem with the FAQ stating it is supposed ot "specify" when it affects the mount is that stating "the model" *does* specify, byu the definition in the BRB.
they really need to sort out the whole model / bearer thing in 8th ed...

Technically, by RAW, he's right. Smack him with a judge and tell him to play the game, not the rules.

...yep. I've never seen anyone use it that way, but it is, technically, okay. That 4+ Ward and re-rollable armour saves for the High Elves would be a lot better if it also applied to his Star Dragon.

They are so incredibly inconsistent (look at the warriors book, magic items in the same column are inconsistently worded as to who they apply to) which is the problem.
My suggestion: dont apply it to the mount as well unless you have something that explicitly says so, and ignore that the rulebook tells you it does - for now. Hopefully 8th WILL sort this out...
