hi there everyone, i've been playing (collecting) for over fifteen years but haven't played many games, i;ve just finished quite a large raven guard force and am looking for a new army to focus on, I really like the Elysian drop troops from forge world and have the coin to buy nearly all i need straight up, but i'm a little confused about IG rules if I was using them as they don't have tanks! so can anyone shed any light on these fearless grav chute wearing commando's for me? i was thinking they can all deep strike but do i need to buy the valkyrie models for them to do so? I was also going to go with a couple of tauran vehicles for speed and power and then a nice mix of rocket teams morter teams and h/bolter teams? a couple squads of troops and a hq? i'm not sure if it'll be feasable and i'd love some opinions input before I make my final decision.

thanks very much everyone, hope to hear from you soon.

You could run them as a vet unit of Elysian's that got put into a regiment along with an armor division, unless you want to play it super fluffy and go with Valk's

If you play them as normal IG they can have any tank you like. If you need fluff justification for this IG regiments often get combined for a specific task.

However you can play them as Elysians using the FW book. If you do it this way they use different vehicles, more suited to Elysians.

If you want them to have no tanks and be deep-striking then you need the newest IA book.

I can't tell you if their army list is any good or not because I don't have my copy yet!

thanks guys, nice and helpfull as always! :-) I do have another question but not sure if i needed to post a new topic but we'll see how i go here, with IG if i have three ten man squads of infantry what do I need as HQ? just one HQ command? or does each squad need a HQ? I am going to be using Elysians as normal guard to start with and am buying all my army at once so I don't want to keep waiting for more stuff from FW, cheers in advance.

Elysian run their platoons like regular IG in that respect. 1 Plt HQ and 2-5 squads. Not sure what's new with IA8, but in IA3, they don't get heavy weapons in the platoons.

I don't know how the Turos's work yet so I can't speak on them.

BTW I replyed to you PM.
