I've never bought any of the Imperial Armour books or anything from Forgeworld for that matter, so I apologize for my ignorance. My question is about the recent IA 8 book that came out. Does that book replace the previous books? Meaning, I know that the books have alternate rules for the Forgeworld models and stuff, so does the most recent book replace the rules from the previous books? If I wanted to get all of the alternate rules for all of the Forgeworld Ork models, would I have to get several different books, or would it all be contained in the most recent?

If you buy the books merely for the rules, then yes, all other books are obsolete.

And this doesn't go here.

None of the IA books contain ALL of the rules.

I haven't got my copy of IA8 yet but if it follows the usual pattern then it will contain the rules for all of the new ork stuff and, possibly, some of the older stuff.

IA-Apoc2 has a handy list of which books stuff can be found in. Looking at that you don't need IA8 (unless you want all the fluff), you can buy the cheaper IA-apoc books as IAA2 has the rules for all of the new models. (the stuff that I'm expecting to see in IA8) You can buy both IA-Apoc books for less than IA8 and have the rules for loads of non-ork units as well.

Here's a list of all the non codex units and where you can find them:

IA-Apoc2
Mekboy Junka
Grot bomb launcha
Mega Dread
Big Trakk
Kustom battlefortress
Kill Krusha

IA-Apoc
Krusha battlewagon
Fighta
Deff-rolla battlefortress

40K Apoc
Fighta bomba
Stompa
Big Mek Stompa
Skullhamma battle fortress
Gargantuan Squigoth

40K Apoc Reloaded
Goff Klawstompa

No, it doesn't make any books obselete as it has the rules for some new units only.

to the OP: you're new so no big deal but this is the news and rumors forum and your thread contains neither. if you have a bunch of questions about a new product, no one will mind if you simply ask it in a thread about that product that contains news/rumors. if you don't want to do that, you can always ask the question in it's own thread in 40k discussions also but this forum is supposed to be for thread actually containing new info.

Actually, you're wrong.

IA books since "The Taros Campaign" have contained full army lists, with points values, weapons, stats, etc. Very few things Forge World publish insist upon you having another Codex

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. Truthfully, the News and Rumors forum is the one that I read the most, so it didn't even dawn on me that it's the wrong spot. I'll be more careful in the future.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Not true;

IA4 has new nid units and no army list.
IA5 has renegade and imperial army lists but there are imperial units not in those lists and not covered.
IA6 has new imperial units and no army list.
IA7 has a marine army list which requires a codex.

IA5 is the only book with two full army lists.

The OP asked if IA8 would have the rules for ALL ork units. There wasn't an Ork army list on the plan but even if it does have an ork army list then it'll be substantially different to the normal one so it won't be guaranteed to have the rules for all ork units.

If that's what OP wants then his best bet is the IA-Apoc books.

Gathering the Informations.

IA4 has new Tyranid units--and a complete army list for both the Red Scorpions and Elysian Detachment 99.
IA5-7 have enough options in them to be fielded as army lists by themselves, without the parts that require anything else.

Your statement was "None of the IA books contain ALL of the rules."

That is not true. I can field an entire Elysian army via The Anphelion Project, Taros Campaign, or IA8.

IA4 does not contain a red scorpions army list - it just has the tactical squad entry.

OP wanted the rules for ALL ork units. There are no IA books which contain the rules for all units for a faction.

Also, note that my comment was in response to BrookM who said that IA8 made all the other IA books obselete which is clearly untrue.
