Hi there, While getting back into 40k from a 7 year absence last year i was suprised to find out that my precious Word Bearers Legion no longer had its own unique rules in 5th edition so i went along my way playing renegades as most do but recently i decided to work around the lack of army rules.


A THEMED army *WOO dance!*

My idea for a themed army came from some threads i posted on dakka concerning characters like Fabius and the disgust i had with the models themselves. I decided to create a dark apothecary for a count as fabius but it has inspired me to repaint all my cult marines and make them "Genetic Experiments" for my army now. I will need to strip my PM's and i wont know what to do with plastic models. If anyone has tips on taking pictures of models on a budget please let me know! i may have a digital camera somewhere around here but i may need to use my phone camera... FAIL!

looking for legit bitz dealers i found a store blackdagger games on Ebay on Window-box from which i bought many bitz, some chosen, the dark apothecary and a new dark apostle (which will be a count as MOT Chaos Lord/Sorcerer or possibly Kharn) are going to consist of the Churgieon backpack/Cypher backpacks, Blood Angels Death Company/ CSM Tactical/Berzerker and SM company command bits o create these.


This Blog will also show the occasional Pain job/conversion and please PLEASE feedback will be appritiated.



by the way this will be the scheme for the general outline of my army, with the exception of cult Expirements and terminators.

Terminators are actually already painted; it was before i had a definite scheme for the army. They have gold helmets and some have red feet. The WB PM's are going to have filed off nurgle icons but still look decrepit. They will be as though the expirements essentially created Undead CSM through a mix of techno-magical constructs.

What do you mean the PM's? they will be the exact same models, filed off icons, decrepit SM expirements. I mean hey you give a man a liberal dose of PCP and a knife, and you get someone with a handgun 30 ft away and tell them to have at it; im sure the Intoxicated individual will FNP and get to stab the gunner before he dies from massive blood loss

So epic fail tonight. Finally found a digital camera at home and when i took the pics.... it came out so horribly and thats when i remembered it was a cheapo camera. Im getting a desklamp for my desk tomorrow and i'll post pics either in the daylight on my phone or use this for better lighting.

You know... I was going to have my apostle have a giant clunky weapon like eliphas from DOW but I realizes that these apostles are chaplains that became corrupter so I simply cut a banner arm from a CSM tac squad, then added a knife blade on bottom, then chaos knight banner top for the corzarius. I wanna use greenstuff but idk what to do!

If you Follow Coutts's Death guard blog we just met on friday for a game at the soon-to-be battle bunker in Alamo CA; he whomped me pretty hard but that was due to ineffective list build and poor dice rolls on my part! you can see my half painted rhinos in it (which look more like fully painted black legion!)


anyways, i digress

For modeling; i also decided after my fabius count as that i will recreat ALL of the special characters in C:CSM in word bearers form; all of which will be types of dark apostles in one way or another.

Haha thanks but i think i got a general idea down on how i want to paint mine.

And unclean one, maybe it was just the direction of the sun that made it shiny? my fab is a kitbash of WHFB warriors, FB backpack, Black templar axe, death company and SM command squad. The Apostle is company commander head and pads with cypher backpack, WHFB icon, aspiring champion body and Death company legs.

UPDATE!

So these are NOT final products, they are about half way painted. I am a busy man and i think that if i can paint about 5 models a week i will have a fully painted army in about.....4 months? lets hope!

IMO, the figs look good. A little matte varnish spray will keep the paints from chipping and will take the shiny-ness away too.

ooo varnish spray.... never thought of using it! And that link posted is actualy inaccurate; the trim of Worc Bearers is supposed to be like a metalic trim not brown...odd.

I understand he got busted tonynids; he is a pretty cool guy tho (know him IRL).

I decided to just use a mincron .005 color set but on the black they do not show, maybe i will put a dab of codex grey on the eyes and then put some of that green or blue ink over it

Im going thru all old nids most og which are broken, fixing them up and hopefully selling them along with a large GW case! I bought an amazing battlefoam 720 case and it can fit over 5000 CSM points worth in it!

p.s I am not building two greater deamons for a possible deamon army in the future/for use in my CSM army.


the first one is the pewter mordor troll top with horns and (hopefully) madnetized jet pack and icon weapons/axe/staff to switch between the unclean one and bloodthirster. he also has sentinel legs; bit of a chaotic experiment!


The next one will be tricky also because it is almost 70% the keeper of secrets model, magnetize the head but what should i use to as a changer of ways head? that will look right on that body? the ugly pointing finger is replaced by a deamonic gun and he will have wings and possily a tail and/or belt. i need more ideas!


and will magnetizing pewter models work? should i also pin/magnetize?

so update! i will post pics tonight since my GF should give me back that good camera tonight. I got my venerable dred in but not the FW arms! i got my sentinel legs but i dont know how they willl work with the MON/MOK GD torso :( i'll post pics of them in case you all have some good ideas!! I also am making the MOT head out of a defiler mask and green stuff. That torso is also half way made to have roman style plate mail as armor!

I know I know I am horrible at updating! long story short i'm a college student and its almost finals week!


Anyways! i stopeed painting a while to make some new stuff! and since my last update i got the battlefoam 720 bag; it rocks...basically!

I also stripped more than half my troops and all my old terminators/deamons/chaos lords of paint. I let them soak in simple green for 4 days. It stripped the paint off the metal but only took about half of the paint off the plastic and that is why i bought some super clean! lets hope this works better!

I will soon be selling alot of nids! many of which are OOP and i'll make a different post in the swap shop thursday or friday for that. anyways any advice, recomendations, ect would be amazing!


Also! i would like to thank Dazz0187 from BAC for an awesome tutorial on converting dred legs here:http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=161351. The Dred also has both Venerable face/sarcoughogus cases magnetized but i need to make them a little more un-imperial. I am also waiting on my forgeworld dred CCW.
