I've been thinking of a rule that I use sometimes in my games, where if the carrier of an explosive One Shot Only weapon(s) is killed/blown up, that OSO can potentially go off.

If a vehicle is blown up (not wrecked) and it has an OSO, you roll a d6 for each one. On each 4+ one blows up, using its usual stats and placing the blast marker over where the OSO is on the vehicle, and any other OSOs on the vehicle detonates on a 4+ due to that blast of that OSO. If it is carried by infantry, and the owner is killed, it goes of on a 4+. However, before resolving the weapons effects, take a ld check. If it is succesful, a soldier jumps to it and throws it away. To simulate this, roll 2d6 and a scatter die. The weapon moves the number of inches shown on the dice -3" in the direction shown on the scatter. This does not happen if the weapon is fired from a gun, though. If it is fired it cannot detonate.

I sometimes use this rule to add realism and think more tactically about placing vehicles. Also its really fun if you have a deathstrike (which by the way is so big it only goes off on a 5+). Wadya think?

I don't see the point of this, why one shot only weapons? Surely if this rule was used, then other weapons such as Battle Cannons, Whirlwind Launchers would detonate as well. The rule just seems unnecessary.

Edit: Oh yeah, Deathstrikes go off on a 6+, not a 5+.

If this is used, it should also be used for weapon destroyed.

I don't remeber the Death Strike being listed as OSO anywhere in the codex. Was this changed in an update somewhere?

Wouldn't all ammo be a chance of detonating when a vehicle is destroyed. And isn't represented with the current rules for all models within D6" taking a St 3 hit?

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Nope it's always been in the codex (Unless it was introduced before 5th ed guard).
