Hello. If you have read my other post, you will know that I'm starting a Tau army and have finally decided on a color scheme. The fire warriors in the muted tan and then my stealth suits and pathfinders will be in the grey primary color, with tan armor bits and dark red soft armor for the stealth suits. My vehicles will have the grey as the main color with a subtle camouflage pattern in a lighter grey, similar to Sam Fisher's trousers in the first Splinter Cell, but with not as much of the light grey. I'm thinking I might model the pathfinders in some sort of ghillie suit, but I'm not sure what the best way to do that would be.

To start things off I've gotten a battleforce, hammerhead, devilfish, and another firewarrior team. The other FW team and 'Fish are still at home.

Example of the subtle camouflage effect.

I'll get pictures of the two 'Fish, hammerhead, and commander up here when I finally go home this weekend. Finals end Saturday!

Well I got home and unpacked my camera only to find that the screen got broken during the move, so until I get a hold of another, no more pictures.

"Straight Fething Silver" Tanith first and only

I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.
I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.

Why don't you get a Battlesuit Commander. Then you have an army!

97% of people have useless and blatantly false statistics in their sigs, if you are one of the 8% who doesn't, paste this in your sig to show just what a rebel you are!

Because then I would have to spend extra money when I already have one suit from the battleforce. I'll get more suits eventually.

Well I finally got some pictures after a bit of a break. They are from my phone though, so don't expect any quality at all. They're just to get the colors. I have a question about washes. I want to used them to shade my models, and I've heard good things about Devlan Mud, but I don't know if that would be too dark on my carefully mixed base armor color. Would Gryphonne Sepia be better? And what's the best way to go about using these. Should i water them down little?

Hi,

nice start!

With a friendI painted some SM scouts, since they are based with sand and tausept ochre we decided to paint their mantle with tausept ochre as well and then add camo. We tested the devlan mud wash but was a bit too dark, Gryphonne Sepia looked way better. We used "pure" washes, no water added.

BTW, we followed this tutorial for camo.

Bye,

Thanks. I decided to go with the Devlan Mud after testing both of them on a spare part. This stuff is awesome. Here are some pictures of my first completed firewarrior:
