This debate has gone back and forth in our store, so lets see if I can get some help.

The Sanguinar (Blood Angels) is not an independent character but is an HQ choice.

The Honour Guard says you can attach them to an HQ choice, though they do not take up an HQ slot.

Now one side of our debate says that the sanguinar can not join the unit because he is not an independent character. The other side says he can join an honour guard due to the honour guards rule. So what is your opinions?

Honour Guard say nothing of the sort. All it says is you can take 1 unit for every HQ you take. There is absolutely nothing to suggest the Sanginator can join the Honour Guard, though you can take a squad if you want.

All the Honour Guard say is yio ucan take one for the specific HQs; they have NO special rules allowing them to join other units.
