This was a pretty cool project that I was commissioned to do. The riders were Mordian Rough Rider minis. They needed a little sculpting in the mid section to make them lean forward. The bikes are extremely old Rogue Trader bikes- I'm not sure if they're marine bikes or actually old IG bikes (heck, back then marines had jetbikes). The heads are from a third party, if anyone can identify them, I'd like to credit them properly here.

Edit: The bodies for these minis come from Colonel Gravis, and the heads are from Empress miniatures. Thanks for the spots.

Excellently executed, as usual, OG! Although, I'm a bit befuddled as to why the client wanted Praetorians on bikes rather than on horses (as it would seem more thematic to me).

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

The bikes were originally SM ones, but they also made IG riders for them (medics, officers and commissars).

The same riders would also fit on the mk2 jetbikes (as the jetbikes were designed to fit those riders).

Nice work. My praetorian bikers are just outlaw biker underhive scum on bikes (Praetoria is still a Hive world, so has the same gang types as any other). Leather jackets, chains and so on.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

The heads are from Empress Miniatures from the Anglo Zulu range: http://www.empressminiatures.com/userimages/procart5.htm

The exact item is ZWA7 near the bottom of that linked page.

Also, the spears are from Crocodile Games' Wargods of Aegyptus line. Everything else used in the conversion was mentioned by odinsgrandson or Kroothawk.

Simple answer: horses are boring.

When I discovered the existence of the Rogue Trader Imperial Bikes I immediately wanted my Praetorian rough riders to be mounted on them. Since my army has a large number of tanks I liked the armored/mechanized feel that the bikes lent to the rough rider unit. Most horse miniatures do not impress me and those few horse/cavalry miniatures that have captured my interest are invariably for undead ranges of miniatures which would have been entirely inappropriate for any upstanding man of Praetoria to ride into battle. So bikes it was!

Those are awesome, I love it when people can pull out some old OOP model, do some conversions and make something that would already stand out on a battle field (Praetorians & the old style bikes) even cooler.

I had suspected as much.

Thank you. It is kind of strange, but even doing this professionally, you don't see a ton of classic mini (with some exceptions) and even less often you're allowed to convert them up like this.
