I am pretty suprised I haven't seen this thread this week......Frank Frazetta is an illustrator famous for his renditions of Conan, amongst dozens of other awesome characters.....his art work and style has helped shape this hobby and countless other movies, books, etc.... Even if you are unfamiliar with his name you are familiar with his work.....

He is the reason I went to art school in the first place, and started my love of this hobby well before I even knew what it was......sad day for the creative world as this week we bury a legend.

I was fortunate enough to be able to see some of his originals a few years back, I am hopeful that Moca continues their plans to do a retrospective on his works this year.

Shame. I think he will be missed. I enjoyed the Death Dealer comic that was out a couple years back.

Those covers he did for Conan are what I see in my head when I read the stories.

Damn, that's a real shame. I grew up with Frazzetta's Conan work in reprint over here in the UK and he really was a master of the barbarian form.

Thanks for posting this here as like others I don't check off topic and I definitely think this is news, sad as it may be.

For those that are interested, there was a biography film done on Frank called Painting With Fire. It's only a couple years old from what I understand, still have to watch it myself.

The man is always going to be a huge inspiration for me.

Frazetta's book covers were on the Conan books when I bought my first one at age 13 and it was my first sword-and-sorcery book purchase ever at the time. I instantly fell in love with the genre and Frazetta's artwork. He's still the greatest fantasy artist of them all as far as I'm concerned. Very sorry to hear that he's gone. His great work will live on and inspire fantasy artist's for ages to come.
