Hello Dakka,
Background: As a beasts of chaos player that didnt enjoy the new direction the beastmen went (less ambush/skirmish, more monsters/blocks) i decided not to purchase anything from the new range... BUT i had already planned to have another 5 bestigor and 3 minotaur for my previous edition army (which people are generous enough to play casually) so i broke down and used some of my tax refund on a box of bestigor and minotaur.
Despite my original opinion that the Minotaur were crappy sculpts (based on the Ard boys ultra inked/highlighted version) they both look really decent, and are huge improvements over the previous molds.
However,
The minotaur are horribly annoying to pose, due mainly to their single pose torso/face; their odd shoulder joints (which force the arms out at predetermined angles, which intersect with the minotaur next to it), having to work around horns, and the fact that the 'footprint' of the model is wider than the base it is supposed to be on, leading to spacing conflicts.
The bestigor are similarly crappy, but rather than be a PITA to rank properly (they actually rank well), Their sprue literally comes with NO extra bits. Well i take that back, it comes with doubles of the command bits, so you have a few extra left arms. On top of this they come with a single torso chunk and more predetermined arm poses. So i am paying 41$ for 10 models, that are in the worst format possible for conversions, that gives me nothing extra (no bags, extra heads, extra horns, extra weapons, anything?!?)

Now then, the meat of the post: I was really impressed with some of the recently done plastic sprues, in terms of molds per sheet and quality of sculpt. It seemed that GW was starting to actually try to give you more crap along with a higher price, which i was impressed with. Or lower the price on classics when they went into plastic (warhounds 10 for 22, chaos knights 5 for 22). Both of these beastmen kits are huge steps back IMO, and i was wondering if anyone else had comments on boxes from other games/armies...

I love the beastmen sprues.

The Gor sprue is absolutely gorgeous, it has so many different weapons, shields, etc.

I never got a minotaur sprue, so I can't comment. Though I love the models.

I have a bestigor sprue and it is actually quite nice, the weapons are really cool looking, etc. I never buy them for the extras I get, the bestigor sprue really doesn't have room for that as they only have one weapon option (GW"s) so they didn't bother to include extras.

To make up for that, I guess they put TONS of extras in the Gor/Ungor boxes, I love the new models.

GW stuff isn't cheap, guy, whining about prices is beating a dead horse, your just bothering others, and GW doesn't care at all.

Just know and be happy that we were left out of the upcoming price rises (Beastmen, I mean)
