Don't think anyone would give you a hard time over it. The biker bases look a lot better and actually fit the models though.

You mount them on whatever base was supplied with the model. It's that easy.

Lost in the warp while searching for a new codex

The old bikes came with the rectangular bases so either one should be fine. Even TFG wont be able to tell which edition the bikes were produced for.

I think only TFG would care as long as it makes sense on the model. No dreadnought bases. Otherwise I think you're fine.
