I've been trying to get two small WHFB armies off the ground for months now. Every time I decide on two, I'll find out something really cool and new about another army, and be dead sure I want to start them instead. Then another one will look appealing. Then another. I'm currently interested in most every army, but most of all Brettonia, Dwarfs, O&G, Skaven, High Elves, Beastmen and Lizardmen. Realistically I can't collect half a dozen armies. I'm sure others must have experienced this as well, how did you deal with it? At this point it's driving me insane, I just spent $50 on O&G only to find that Skaven and Beastmen looked pretty cool too....

Pick the army you want to stick with, get enough models to play small games then try to play them regularly. Having a good game can be very motivating. I had the same roblem and this has helped me a lot.

Yeah.
Personalyl, I would go with lizardmen. Very versatile, can participate in every phase in the game. Very strong.

If you have friends that are accommodating, you can do an army swap sort of thing (i.e. I'll play your Ogres, and you play my O&G.) It can scratch that new army itch without spending a dime, and you might discover you particularly like an army and then start it.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

I find playing games is a good way to stick with an army. Writing a list and seeing it in action adds dedication to one list and inspires me to paint it and see it through. If I don't play games for a while, my interest jumps between armies in a similar way as you described.

Phew... thought I was the only one experiencing this can't-make-up-mindedness. It's crazy! When I started 40k, I knew what I wanted: Orks! But with WHFB I just can't decide. Note to GW: bring back Dogs of War.

I also have the bug. Right now I have a little bit of Beast men, Warriors of chaos, lizard men, O&G, Dwarfs, Empire, High Elves, Brettonians, and MAH TILEANS!
My solution:........ I don't have one

I whole-heartedly agree. I have the same problem with choosing only one. I have 3 and part of another right now. They are assembled and primed. Without any games, I lose the motivation to paint them and start dreaming about other armies. The flavor of the week is a night goblin army (hmmm...BfSP), before it was either lizardmen or empire. Since HE are rumoured to be in 8th starter box, maybe I should look into them. See, I am really no help. However, I find when I am able to play a game, I get an urge to sit down and finish one of my armies. I actually have a paint station set up to start on my WE.
Good luck.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

Lord of Kaith- I had this problem, starting with high elves, almost immediately going to lizardmen, and then being tempted by skaven, beastmen...
However, I seem to have stuck with wood elves. I think it's that I finally got some good games in with them. Another helpful factor was that I spent a lot of money on the army (buying it painted) and it was high-quality. The previous armies I had gotten through bartertown and the like used, and they were not of a caliber that really earned my respect.
Once you've dropped the cash and gotten some models that you don't want to scratch, drop, or otherwise harm, let alone sell to try another army... I think you'll be content.
I'll let you know if it continues for me, but I've been content to add small pieces to my wood elf army, and currently have abandoned thoughts of starting other armies. It has the appeal of letting me get "done" with it, rather than having to continue to start new ones... and hopefully to become skilled at playing it, too
