So I was checking out some 1:1 scale aircraft yesterday and I just wanna say...

If it wasn't for us you'd all be speaking German.

Or Russian.

Japanese maybe.

Point being, whatever you're speaking now you wouldn't be speaking it if it wasn't for us.

No not really, america did less than russia to quell the nazis and hardly dipped its toe into the european front of the war until the very end. Americans are hugely douchy when it comes to proclaiming themselves the saviors of europe after they walked in and finished a fight that had been going on for years.

That's totally not the point I'm getting at, Shuma. Maybe we are a little jingoistic.

I'm just saying it was a bit rude of Anshal to say that to Kid Kyoto. He could have presented an argument to get his point across, like you did.

Yeah, but arguing with fact against an opening statement like kyotos is pointless.

One little problem with your argument, Shuma. You missed an aspect of the OP's first post.

Go back and re-read Kids original post and you will see that he mentions the russians. There is a very good argument that american involvement and the subsequent use of the A-bomb kept europe from soviet domination.

Questionable at best, the nuclear arms race likely prevented an invasion, but the soviet state was hardly cohesive enough to have stayed together. It was going to collapse through corruption and mismanagement long before they managed to finish prosecuting a lengthy and costly third world war.

Also, Kid_Kyoto is coming across as brazenly arrogant for his statement. It is bound to attract trolls and people who have a differing opinion.

Just nobody toss a Beck argument into this:

But subsequent demobilization of the American military in Western Europe also could of cost us a Soviet dominated world. Then again, there are several points to which Soviets and Americans could of clashed, but we did not and ergo nothing was decided about the domination of either ideology for the next 45 years.

No there isn't. You only get there if you assume that the Soviet state was necessarily imperialist, which is not born out by historical circumstance. The notion that the American presence was necessary for peace and security is very similar to the argument from Islamic imperialism that you see trotted out be incompetent analysts today. Its an idea driven by fear, and a need to vindicate rather than accept.

For our part, we would like to apologise to the rest of the world for inventing America in the first place. I'm not sure where we went wrong with that one. Maybe we should have sent the pilgrims to Australia and the convicts to the States.

Actually, you sent your convicts to both, then your empire fell. Guess that is what happons when you lock up all of your hard working original thinkers and send them away.

But hey, You apologized........so now the healing can begin.

Sorry to be the one to let you know, but it already has. It must be tough to live on an island where the news reaches last.

I'll catch you up:

Japan started working with China to help them modernize and now we are all scr***d.

While the OP is sounding like a douche he does provide us with great pictures of lovely aircraft. Makes me wish we had more of that around here.

How did you invent us by losing a war of imperialism?

I'd rather speak German then a butchered version of English.
I would rather you simply stayed quiet.

You ended something you seemingly intended to state as fact with a question mark.

I don't think you know what the word empire means.
