I was doing a little list-bashing whilst sitting on the throne earlier, and I thought up a cool flavoursome but potentially stupid unit.

I'm thinking 10 Veterans, Lasguns, Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, Forward Sentries and Sgt. Harker.

Imagine them outflanking, sitting in 2+ cover, negating bonus assault attacks and peppering the bejesus out of the rear armour of your enemy's vehicles. They weigh in at something like 140 points though - twice the cost of a plain vet squad.

They pack a punch, and will happily shrug off a modest amount of abuse to boot. Any ideas / suggestions Dakka?

Not a rules question. Moving to Tactics.

If you're taking Harker, don't bother with the FS. Stealth doesn't stack, and snare mines aren't worth 30 points.

murdog +1. Trade Forward Sentries points for Meltas then you'll have some fun with the enemy Armor!

Demolitions. Squad gets a demo charge.

Harker is absolutely worth it. Stealth, Infiltrate, Move Through Cover, and a BS4 heavy bolter, and the best part is his squad doesn't lose the special abilities when Harker dies (unlike that schmuck bastogne).

Forward Sentries is absolutely not since you're essentially just paying for the camo cloaks. The snare mines are negligible for a 10-man guard squad, you'll still get mauled in an assault.

I run Harker in a Chimera with Demolitions and 2 Meltas + a Heavyt Flamer. Works great for Outflanking all-comers goodness!

I do something similar, except I just take the regular flamer or a third meltagun. Heavy flamers are simply not worth the 15 point premium in infantry squads. The chimera has a heavy flamer, that's sufficient.

Actually, you are only paying for defensive grenades with the FS and Harker; camo cloaks grant Stealth, and Harker grants stealth therefor Harker effectively equips the squad with camo cloaks when you buy him.

That said; 30 points for defensive grenades is WAY steep.

P.S. I run Harker with Demolitions and a Heavy Flamer and outflank with him, or infiltrate near a unit I want dead first turn (if I have first turn)

I meant on its own, since someone already covered that it is pointless to use both on one unit.
