Have any of you guys played with your new army for the first time and got completely destroyed? It happened to me yesterday playing against a good friend of mine. I finally got to play my new Flesh tearers, all nice and painted up good against my friends Blood angels. He was running a sanguary ( to lazy to spell it out right) with 3 dreads, two storm ravens, the super angel guy that blood angels have, two squads of angel guard, and Dante. Since it was my first time playing with my Flesh Tearers, I had know idea what I was doing, My army was pure assault so I played them like my orks. I got wiped out by turn 4, my moral in my new army went down. The only thing I killed was one squad of sanguary guard and Dante.

But I was stoked that Seth killed Dante. That was the only good thing.

Now I have little faith in my army, and I just started them.

Has this ever happened to you guys that where just starting out.

OH YEAH! that sums up my first 5 tournaments until I learned a basic form of strategy and nearly got a draw =P. Just dont give up because if it's you're new army you're still learning the strategy. until you play a decent amount of times you should definatly not give up.

It was my third game with my Guard. I'd played against some people I know in relatively low-yield games. Then I played a game against close-combat happy Chaos Marines. You haven't felt pain until you've lost 30 Guardsman in one round. I had just read Cadian Blood so I thought of all Guardsmen as invincible badasses... I guess I was wrong!

At the place I play we have a saying,

If something new is on the field the first time, it will go down fast and hard.

In this case the new army was lost, normally this is only the new unit / vehicle / model...

Some thing I learned with my new army is that you can't run them like your other army. I have a chaos army and tried to play them similar to Orks, doesn't work that way. I got very frustrated. But the more I play the better I get with the army. Granted they are not my favorite. But like everything it takes practice to get used to a new army.

Yea its hard not to get frustrated and want to give up because you suck so bad (unless your DasofPepper, who somehow picks up new armies and is even better then his old ones )
It takes time to find out how to play with them. The reason your decent to good with the old army is that youve played them enough to get that finesse you gain from playing them every way possible. New armies are just that, NEW! You have to get your ass kicked a few times to re learn what you should and shouldnt do

Keep your chin up, spend about an hour just writing different lists and thinking about tactics and such with them. Youll pick it up, if your good with one army you WILL get good with others, thats just the way of it

Bush? No, Eldar Ranger

Lost in time and space...

I've played Eldar for quite some time, and I usually win or tie with my opponents... Then I picked up BFG Eldar... and boy did I get slapped silly
Still love the game, but those ships are really made out of balsawood and tinfoil.

As others have said: it usually takes some time to get into a new army
