I'm reading through all codexes I've got, trying to decide what force to start.. And the Daemonhunters looks fun. But here's my questions that poped up:

1: When reading Captain Stern's profile, it says 'A force of 1500pts may be joined by Stern..' - Does that mean that you need 1500 points first, and then add his cost ontop of that, i.e. making it impossible to use him in a 1500 point army? (This question is for all such characters!)

2: The 'True Grit' rule is different in my (old) Space Wolves Codex and in the Daemonhunters' codex.. I suppose it's RAW in the codex of the force I'm using, but I can't find the True Grit rule in the 5th ed Rulebook. Furthermore my english isn't very good, so the rule confuses me. I read it as 'A Grey Knight with a Stormbolter and a Nemesis Force weapon get the +1 attack, as if using a pistol and cc weapon, but not +1 when charging' - Is that correct?

3: The only models GW sells (atleast those listed on the site, which I suppose is what there is!) as HQ are the special chars, and some inquisitors in Power Armour, but if I want one in Terminator Armour (Grand Master) can I take a normal Grey Knight Terminator and nominate it as a Grand Master if I add some different paint jobs and perhaps some easy conversation work? (I've noticed that there's several special characters missing that needs to be hand-made, such as Orks. This however feels like buying one thing and playing it as something else! I know my friends wouldn't have a problem with it, but if I am to join some competition or such on the local store or such.)

I suppose that's about it for my questions, I'm sure there are questions like them elsewhere but.. Couldn't find any answers.

I'd also like to ask if there's any people around here playing a Grey Knights force who could give me some advice. The units are so very expensive in points, that just two troops and a HQ would end up facing quite a bunch of cheaper oponents, Eldar, Tyranids, even Necrons are cheap in comparing to them! If I'd come with 20 un-upgraded knights for example, I'd face something like 27 Necrons, 41 Dire Avengers or 83 Orks! Are they really resilient enough to face that much? Is it worth adding Rhinos to the Troops to get them into CC in a somewhat protected enviroment?

1) No. So long as the roster is a "1500 point roster", it doesn't matter if you have 1,499 1,498 or even 500 points. It's a "1500 point army", so you can include him!

2) The True Grit rule has been removed from the main Rulebook. You now just use the rule found in the DH codex. What it does is that you get +1 attack for 2 CCW when assaulted, but not when you assault (instead getting +1 attack for assaulting). It's to stop the Assaulting bonus stacking with the 2 CCW Bonus.

3) RaW, No, you cannot. However, 99.9999999999999999% of people (myself included) will not care because, as you pointed out, the models don't exist. [Note to the people with the +5 Banhammers: Not Spam, am answering the question, and have CLEARLY pointed out the idiocy of it. Please don't b& me for spam again. ]

4) As for tactics, can't help you here, sorry! My only suggestion is that if you are just starting, do not go with Dæmonhunters, because their rules are very outdated and underpowered, not to mention rumors of possible new models and a new codex within a year or so.

you sure about this Gwar! ? it doesn't sound right , its very specific in saying that an army of 1,500pts may be joined by stern, so the army would have to be more than 1500pts to include him. I hope i'm wrong so do you have a source?

Cheers mate!

That was a nice and quick reply too.

The Transport section gave me two new questions though!

4: Only the Rhino says it won't carry Terminators, does that mean a Chimera can? (I've always thought that was a Landraider-only thing.)

3: Landraiders are usually Heavy Supports on their own, but the DH have them in the Transport section, does that mean that they don't take any slots, but are upgrades for the units? (*immagines 10 Landraiders roll over the field, one for the HQ and his retuine, one for each three Elite choise terminator unit, one each for the six troop units*)

4) Yes, the Chimera can indeed transport models in Terminator Armour.

3) Yes, they are Upgrades for the units. Note however you cannot just take them on their own, they must be purchased for a unit, and not all units can buy them. Each unit details what transport it can buy in its rules. IIRC, nothing in the DH Troops can buy Land Raiders as a Transport, nor can the Grey Knights Terminators, another reason why you should stay clear and go for a newer codex, like the Blood Angels, which can do that coincidently!

Funny, I just noticed that the only units avalible to take transports are the Imperial Stormtroopers. o.O

Edit: Also, they may not take the Landraider. What's the Landraider doing in the Transports section? They're profiled in Heavy Support as well!

The inquisitor lord option can take a landraider as his ride.

3. Yes. If GW does not make a model, you are free to convert one up, so long as it is identifiable as belonging to said army and has the correct wargear modelled on to it.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

New codex is *supposedly* coming out soon.

Looks like it just the Grey Knight models and the codex to me. Grey Knight Terminators and all the Inquisition stuff is still available? Still rumors are high that they are coming out soon. So best to wait.
