So I'm making a BA successor chapter, and I wanted to have an idea of the list I was going for and I need some feedback from seasoned Marine players.

I was thinking of expanding by adding more dreads, Probably a couple of basic MM/DCCW ones, and get some drop pods for all the ones that don't have a vehicle to travel in.

Have you playtested? I know that, around here, there's no earthly way a single Stormraven could deploy without being target Numero Uno.

I also think you greatly overestimate the impact the Infernus has.

Yeah, I think i might drop it on the priests, but 15 points for a melta shot AND an extra PW attack is kind of hard to pass up on the Reclusiarch. The sarges I'm not so sure on either, as it doesn't help their PF: maybe switch the PF for a PW?

And now that you mention it, ceramite plating or not I'm not totally sure I'm willing to risk 200 points on an AV12 vehicle. Either I'll cut some points and toss them in a Redeemer, or cut the DC down to 9, put them in a fast razorback, and buy some pods for the dreads.

I love my Infernus pistols. When you deep strike those assault squads, you'll want them.

I remain unconvinced, even (especially) then.

DS'ing within 7" is silly, even with DoA. Makes it very hard to get the Double-Dice that is the ONLY reason to pay that much for a gun.

That's not the only reason to pay for the gun. Madness, I say! You're deep striking and rear armor shots are plentiful. Not to mention those 4 melta shots can help clear out some termis or MEQ before a charge.

If your gonna ditch the PF's (I wouldn't) take melta bombs as well as PS's.

I think what it's going to come down to for me is whether 100 points worth of meltas are going to make their points back. That's definitely going to need some playtesting, but my hypothesis is definitely "yes".

I'm going to tweak it a little bit, definitely.

For more points, what should I be heading toward? I was thinking taking more dreads.
Am I screwing myself by having only 20 troops, or are they alright for scoring thanks to Combat Squads?

Opponents should know better than to permit easy rear shots, and if they don't they'll soon learn.

As regards the only 20 Troops issue - no, I'm uncomfortable with it, as they are your frontline attackers. I recommend 30+ in JP lists.

Well, technically I have 30, but only 20 of those are scoring. I get by with 20 Warriors for objective missions in my Necron lists, and they can't even take combat squads. But then again, I have a completely different strategy there.

Yeah, but RAS squads are a very different beast. You may be able to get away with 20, but I think, quite often, it'll see you suffer.
