Hi guys,

I'm currently assembling a Blood Angels 5th Company army and really fancy using some of these very nice decals featured on Bolter&Chainsword: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=407

My only problem is I can't seem to find any decal paper easily (in the UK), this coupled with me not having a printer for use means I have to stumble through terrible attempts at freehand. Has anyone got any tips on where I could get some of these decal sheets pre-made? Or indeed if anyone has any spare I'd gladly buy them for convenience. Failing that does anyone know where in the UK I can easily get some A5 Decal paper? (I'm in Bristol).

Thanks for any help or advice you may have

Cheers

Local art stores may have them, that's where I got mine. Can't help you much more than that, sorry.

If you can order from the internet, then this place seems to do just what you need: http://www.themodelcatalogue.com/shopexd.asp?id=1933

Thanks for the help, Natorum that website is great, I've no idea why I haven't stumbled across that before. Just a quick question if anyone knows re: Microsol/set. I'm trying to get my existing decals to sit nicely on SM shoulder pads, do I just need to use Microsol to get them to be even and the much talked about "painted on" look, or do the product only really work when you use both?

Cheers

Microset is the first stage. Apply that to the glossed shoulder pad, then apply the decal. Apply a bit more microset on top. Microsol is the stronger of the the two solutions, and can start to disolve the decal film. You should use that once the decal is sited to tamp it down onto the surface. The Lysander on my CMON gallery has had that done.

Note that you really must gloss first to get the look right- otherwise you can get air trapped under the decal (in the roughness of a matt surface) which causes the film to look silvery. No amount of glossing afterward will get rid of it.

As for decal paper - try www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk. I use them and they're pretty good.

Thanks for the advice Winterdyne, very helpful, and the decal on your Lysander looks brilliant. I'm hoping to pick up the two bottles when my hobby store is restocked next week.

One more quick question, do I need clear or white transfer paper? Bare in mind these are the Blood Angels transfers to go on Blood Red (obviously).

Cheers

As a matter of interest redbristles which hobby shop do you use? I'm in Bristol and have never seen one which stocks stuff like microset/sol.

There's a place called Antics just in town, on Fairfax street: http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/, it's really good for general supplies, loads of Vallejo colour, Testors Dullcote, and Microsol/set type gubbins.

Hope that helps.

Goddam it, I'd forgotten all about Antics, haven't been there in years. I didn't even know they stocked the really good stuff so I've been ordering it all online. I'll have to pop down there soon and have a no doubt expensive wander around.

Much appreciated.
