I've been putting this off forever, but now it's time to start my IG project. I'll be focusing on a mechanized build (unique I know) using only Veterans so I can max out on models I love (Vendettas) and transports. I have some questions though. The theme of the army is going to be modern day, all Vets will have greenstuff goggles made, I'm going to figure out how to make NVGs on their helmets, camel packs, knee pads and balaclavas.

What would be the best stuff to purchase? I'm going to pick up a box of Cadians on Friday when they come in, so I'm starting there but where should I go next? I have a bunch of Kasrkin I bought when I was making my DH army a long time ago, but apparently those are terrible.

Other than the Kasrkins I have nothing, so what should be my purchasing priority? Also, has anyone seen an army made like this that I could reference?

I would buy one squad at a time and one vehicle at a time for ease of painting. You'll also probably want to go to eBay or Warstore to pick up melta and plasma guns, as the regular Cadian boxes only come with flamers and grenade launchers. GW also sells metal bitz packs with meltas and plasmas.

You're going to need a lot of green stuff, but there are some Cadian upgrade packs from Forgeworld that have goggles, extra stowage, and so on.

In response to your last question, armies like this are really dime a dozen and show up at tournaments a lot. Unless you're talking modeling wise, in which case this is a bit less common.
