Out of all of the Terminators, Scouts, and all the other guys that make up each Space Marine Chapter. Which Chapter is the most powerful? Are they all equal in power or is there a chapter of marines
that is just stronger then the rest? Lets make this both Fluff and Codex wise.

Black Templars, if they would get their $h!t together and be a cohesive force. But since their 5000+ marines+Neophytes are all on seperate crusades scattered about the galaxy...
It goes to the Space WolvesThey have 12 great companies @ ~120 strong apiece, and the 13th Great company in the Eye of Terror(although there is no way to reach those brothers)
But still with 440 extra Marines, a blood-thirsty Savage battle doctrine, and their very own Navigator house, they can definitely Outmaneuver most other forces.
The Ultramarines just about tie with them(even after the tyranic wars) due to their having Several systems worth of PDF and Guard regiment backing

As far as Equipment goes, either Dark Angels or the illusive Chapter 666.
Dark Angels have the most term armor, the Most land Radiers (Depending on whose fluff you read), and all sorts of pre heresy gadget's and gizmo's sitting around.

Black Templars are the biggest chapter. Space wolves are second. Grey Knights are one of the smallest but definately one of the toughest.
There's probably alot of other non-codex chaptes out their breaking the rules about force limits but just keep a low profile.

Definatly pre-tyranic Ultramarines. If you want even more numbers I'd say Id say Ultramarines before all the sequential foundings to bring numbers down. IIRC that was due to the HH so I would say pre-heresy Ultramarines. Pretty sure they were bigger than the BT, rumoured to be around 1,000,000 strong I think(correct me if I'm wrong please). Horus planned his attack when Robboutte and his chapter would be gone, cuz he was scuurrred

Black templars although the biggest are way to scattered to fight a specific enemy.
Space wolves are second biggest and are pretty self-reliant.
but Ultramarines have the loyalty of the entire sectors so they would win most likely.

Who said they were allowed more than normal? They are all a bunch of Heretics! And just to clear up a misconception this thread seems hell bent on keeping going: A Normal Space Marine Chapter has MORE than 1000 Marines. The 1000 Marines number is Poetic License/Propaganda. Lexicanum says 3000. I guess I got that 300 number from the fact that there was 300 Death Guard loyalists left after Flight of the Eisenstein. I'm totally convinced that Grey Knights are Death Guard btw. Anyways straight up put down Grey Knights as most powerful chapter!!
Except the guy below you who wrote Adeptus Custodes. Forgot about them. They're the most powerful except I'm not sure the count as a chapter.

The question is 'what is the most powerful Marine Chapter'. Pre-heresy they were Legions, not Chapters! Besides which, the Luna Wolves were unequivocally the most powerful Legion. The won the greatest campaigns, were at the forefront of the Great Crusade, and their Primarch lead all other Legions as Warmaster.
I'll have to agree with everyone on the Black Templars. Numbers alone win this one, and they're at least 5 times larger than most Chapters!

I've always interpreted it to mean there's about 1000 normal footsoldier guys, (so not including apothecaries, techmarines and vehicle and ship crew). That article pretty much confirms that.

"Most powerfull" is a highly subjective term. But taking into account just pure numbers Black Templars win hands down. 5000+ Marines collected into a single force would be all but unstoppable in the current era.

Templars have huge numbers on their side and their near khorne like zeal make them terrifying. After them I would say Grey Knights because they are so powerful and amazing in close combat. Then Space Wolves.

BT. Not only is the Codex Astartes a sack of crap (Dorn and Russ were right), but their fervor and numbers, not to mention the fact that the sons of Dorn will stick together make them a powerful force.
Granted the Ultramarines are a mini-empire in themselves, and their successors may band together, but in any sort of factional split, I see the Swolves joining the Templars, which would crush the Codex lackey chapters.

Most of the second founding chapters are fairly loyal to their parents, as the recent BA codex suggests that a decent number of their successors are heading to baal. As far as sheer numbers go BT are the largest however they are spread across the entire Imperium and therefore have a hard time claiming they have a unified goal, which is precisely why they are allowed to be almost the size of a pre-heresy legion. the wolves are far more unified and still larger then most of the 1st founding chapters.

I thought each Space Wolf 'Great Company' was the same size as a chapter of normal marines? Doesn't that give them the same numbers as the BT's?
And a Pre-Heresy Legion was tens of thousands strong, not hundreds of thousands. Unless that's been retconned from Codex Chaos 2nd Ed.
