So I have just recently gotten into fantasy and I play Orks and Goblins. I have seen quite a few 40k games and it has its hooks in me as well lol. I am thinking of playing Orks in 40k but I kinda like tyranids as well but I am afraid of the mostly melee army...so that being said I am looking for suggestions on a good 1500 point ork army so I can get started to building lol...or suggestions on how to play tyranids and not get shot up by shooty things on ur way across the field.

Tryanids might get shot up a bit on their way into combat but the end results can be well worth it.

Orks are the army i have the most fun with playing. Basically take a ton of boys, 9 Kanz, KFF Big Meks, and then whatever you want to fill out the rest. Kan wall is a ton of fun for the reason if you set up your army right everything in your army can get a 4+ cover save. That is just one way to run orks and there are plenty more if you look at 40k tactics. Welcome to dak dakยก

However, Orks could be a good place to start, as yo you can use some fantasy pieces for conversions and the likes - Black Orks ake awesome 'Ard Boyz Also, the key to a successful Ork mob is Boyz, Trukks, and lots of them. Also, my brother has proved to me that Orks and Tyranids don't HAVE to be full melee armies, the sheer amount of firepower they can bring means that someones gotta hit summit sometime!
Or, if the prospect of Melee armies is too daunting you could always look to the Tau or IG. Or even SM/ CSM - who are a good mixture of both.

What I want to stay away from is being "another space marine player" there are soooooo many of them at our game store...also I want to stay away from armies that are either mostly melee or mostly ranged...I would like to play a pretty balanced army that is fun to play...I think in fantasy orks have some of the funnest rules lol
