Hey all.

I've entered my first ever tourny (so I'm not expecting miracles). It's 1500pts, and the army lists are alterable as the tournament progresses. My first battle is going to be against Tau, I've never played them before so I'm not exactly sure what to expect.

Anyway here's my list. Could you let me know what you think, or what I should change etc... We are allowed to proxy models within reason. Also I've seen the tables at the local store and they all looked "quite urban", lots of cover, so I've tried to use that in my list.

HQ - Emperors Champion + AAC - 140pts

Elite 1 - Tactical Terminators, 5 SB/PF, 1 AC - 260pts

Elite 2 - Assault Terminators, 5 TH/SS, Crusader Seals and Furious Charge - 225pts

Elite 3 - Venerable Dreadnought, Assault Cannon, SB/PF, Smoke, Drop Pod - 158pts

Fast 1 - Assault Squad, 5 Initiates with Jump packs with BP/CCW, 1 flamer/CCW - 116pts

Troop 1 - Crusader Squad 1, 6 Initiates with BP/CCW, 1 with PF/BP, 1 with Plasma Gun + 5 Neos with Shotties - 199pts

Troop 2 - Crusader Squad 2, 6 Initiates with BP/CCW, 1 with PF/BP, 1 with Plasma Gun + 5 Neos with Shotties - 199pts

Troop 3 - Crusader Squad 3, 6 Initiates with BP/CCW, 1 with PF/BP, 1 with Melta Gun + 5 Neos with Shotties - 203pts

Sum total of dead on 1500 points.

So does this sound ok? I've got an old Smurf army that I can proxy models out of if need be. I know I have no transports but unfortunately I simply don't have the models, but I figured with the Neos acting as meat shields I can simply run my crusader squads head first at the enemy. Also the Champ will be attached to one of the troop units.

Thanks.

*EDIT*

Also do you think it would be useful to hold the Terminators back in reserve and teleport them in somewhere or simply deploy them and run them? I was thinking to deploy the Assault Terms as their Shields will save them on the run, and then teleport the shooty Terms in on a later turn, sound ok? Obviously the Dreadnought will deepstrike in his pod, or should I change this?

Give your Neophytes CCWs/BPs. Shotguns in the BT codex are awful, and you want to get in melee range anyway.

I myself would probably also remove the Tactical Terminators and put a Chaplain in there, to lead one of the Crusader Squads. Make him a Master of Sanctity, give him 3x Cenobyte Servitors, a Holy Orb of Antioch and a combi-melta and you'll have a pretty OK HQ unit at 170 points. The remaining 90 points can go into getting more marines and neophytes for the squad where you put the Chaplain. A squad of 10 marines, 10 neophytes and a MoS with 3x servitors is kinda hard to kill, even more so when you've got cover saves. With this setup, whenever you lose something (preferrably a scout...) you get to move at least 4 inches towards an enemy of your choice, and you can reroll the RZ dice if you want, thanks to the chappie. This might not be an option if you don't have a suitable model tho'... Oh, and the Holy Orb of Antioch is there for pure awesomeness. AP3 blast that doesn't scatter, wounding on a 2+? YES PLEASE!

I'd also rather take meltaguns than plasma, melta can smoke vehicles better, while still being OK against heavy infantry. And it doesn't blow up either...

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
