A chaos space marine army may take a Dark Apostle as a HQ choice.

Number/squad: 1
Wargear; Power armour, bolt pistol, Accurced crozius, Frag+Krak grenades.
Options: May replace Bolt pistol with a plasma pistol for 15pts.
May take Melta Bombs for 5pts.
May replace wargear with Terminator armour, Accursed crozius and twin linked bolter for +30pts. In this case, the only additional peice of wargear he may take is to replace his bolter with a combi-weapon for 5 pts.
If not wearing Terminator armour may take one of the following:
Chaos bike for 30pts
Jump pack/Wings for 20pts
Accurced Crozius: An Accurced crozius counts as a power weapon, personal icon, and grants a 4+ invunerable saze to the Dark Apostle.
Special rules: Fearless, Independant charector,
The word of Lorgar: A Dark Apostle may buy this ability for +25pts. If you purchase the word of Lorgar, you may not purchase the Zeal and rage or Demagogue abilities. Any non-fearless enemy unit with a model within 6" of a Dark Apostle reduces it's leadership by 1.
Zeal and rage: A Dark Apostle may buy this ability for +25pts. If you purchase Zeal and rage, you may not purchase the the word of Lorgar or Demagogue abilities. On the turn he charges into combat, a Dark Apostle and any unit he accompanies may reroll any rolls to hit.
Demagogue: A Dark Apostle may buy this ability for +25pts. If you purchase Demagogue, you may not purchase the the word of Lorgar or Zeal and rage abilities. All Chaos Units with a model within 6" automatically pass all morale checks, including the Word Bearer himself

Don't you think that is a little over powered for a 105 points? I mean this guy is a space marine captain with an additional attack, with a power sword and allows rerolls to hit when your charge. I would say you need to switch the position of the 0 and 5 to get a good point cost.

I'd agree with a slight point raise.

Also in the 4th ed chaos book they had word bearers dark apostle (or some other name for a fallen chaplain) rules, I'd start there.

There is some potential here but a few things need to be addressed because at the moment he is some sort of OP CC shock unit.

1. Change base cost from 105 to 130. The base cost for a lord is 90 point with a Daemon weapon costing 40 points and an ordinary power weapon costing 15 points. The cost of the Accursed Crozarius would be similar to a daemon weapon considering what it does to a character with a lord stat line.

2. Reduce base attack to 3 as the character does not have the MOK (An apostle should not be allowed to receive a mark of chaos in any case as a Dark Apostle with the MOT would have a 3+ invulnerable armour save lol)

3. Remove word of Logar and Zeal as standard. Rework these abilities as optional abilities/upgrades with additional point cost required. Make these abilities mutually exclusive; meaning you can only get one of the abilities and not both.

4. Give the Dark Apostle the Demagogue ability from 4th ed as standard. This ability fits in well from a fluff and game play perspective.

Might I suggest he be able to buy wings/bikes/jump packs/daemonic steed for their cost based on the chaos lord?

This would really increase the possibilities with this guy.

Sadly, I don't have the 4th ed chaos codex. Could you give me a breif synopsis of the rule?

"During the Horus Heresy most of the Chaplains of the Traitor Legions resisted corruption and were murdered by their brothers. The Chaplains of the Word Bearers instead embraced Chaos willingly. A Chaos Lord or Sorceror of the Word Bearers Legion may use the following special rules for the points cost indicated:

Accursed Crozius (Daemon Weapon) 40pts

I woudl say have the Rage and Zeal thign as standard - like a SM chaplain since that is what they were back in the day.

To avoid the temptation of giving it a mark, chaneg the Demogogue rule so that it grants the Apostle and all units within 6" the mark of chaos glory (ie: re-roll morale checks). Again, as standard.

@Praxiss-the reason he doesn't have Zeal and rage as standard is because I want to alter his role slightly, from just being a chaos chaplain to a more "buff"-centric guy.

gotcha. I liek it either way tbh. I think it woudl be good if there were rules for at least an HQ choice pre traiotr legion. Just somethgin to add a little flavour. Dark Apostles, Warsmiths etc etc.
